Conor McGregor ; From Homelessness To Hundred Million

Less than 10 years ago, Conor Mcgregor was homeless. While homeless he met a woman named Dee Devlin. She took him off the streets, moved Conor into her tiny apartment and fed him daily.

All she ever asked was that he worked hard and believed in himself. She struggled to buy expensive, healthy food so Conor could train and stay focused... but she stuck by him.

ONLY 6 years ago, Conor was a plumber... barely living above poverty, but Dee stuck by him.

Last saturday night, Dee sat in in attendance to once again support her man while he made over 100 MILLION dollars to add to his already successful new life.

Believe in yourself and find people to surround yourself with who believe in you as well. Life is too short to keep your circle full of people who will watch you fail.

Don't EVER let your circumstances or people hold you down. Get out there and take what's yours! No excuses!

The 5 Ways Peaople Approach Opportunities

*TO EVERY OPPORTUNITY THEY ARE FIVE CLASSES OF PEOPLE:*

*1). The Ignoramus:* - These are always not aware of opportunities. They don't read wide and maybe live in a small world of knowledge.

*2). The Passers-by:* Just see or read but never pick interest. They always wish they got involved when it is already late.

*3). The Excuse givers:*  - Their interest is killed by fear, excuses and over - analysis. No risk takers , always mistrusting and prefer to keep money. They like to see cash in their pockets than in an investment - no fluidity

*4). The Believers:* Believe in the possibilities of an opportunity but take no action , or maybe just begin for some reasons without passion and conviction.

*5). Doers:*  - Those who put work to their belief . They have come to trust that which they believed, learn more while earning and earn more with focus and strategy.

The better ones here apply faith and patience to watch and earn  from little to mega success/profit.

The Bus Driver and Calabar WomanπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Driver When We Reach Benin,  Please Tell Me!!!
""An old woman boarded a
Bus to Lagos from Calabar and told the driver: "Driver, please, when we reach Benin tell me o."
The driver nodded and then she shouted again: "My children, una hear wetin I tell am?"
Everybody responded: "Yes, Mama."
On the long journey to Lagos, everybody slept off and forgot about Mama's request.
After several hours of driving and then close to Lagos, with Benin about four hours behind, the old woman asked: "Driver, you never reach Benin since?" "Ooooh!" the driver exclaimed, "Mama, Benin is like four hours behind us."
"Ah!", the woman shouted and started crying, saying: "Take me back to Benin, abeg, I no wan wahala o." Considering the age of the woman, the passengers agreed that the driver should turn back to Benin.
On getting to Benin, the driver came down, opened the door and told the woman she was in Benin.
The woman simply opened her hand bag, brought out two tablets of Panadol and swallowed them with water. She then smiled and said:
"Thank you, my son. Na my daughter say when I reach Benin, make I drink two tablets of Panadol
"I don take am now, oya make we dey go Lagos..."

Bill Gates Thinks The Poor Can Also Give

Someone asked Bill Gates, "Is there any person richer than you?"

He said, "Yes, only one. Many years ago, I had been dismissed and I had gone to New York airport. I read titles of newspapers there. I liked one of them and I want to buy it. But I didn't have change (coin). So I abandoned the idea.
Suddenly, a black boy called me and told me, “This newspaper for you.” I said, "But I don’t have change." He said, “No problem, I give you free”.

After 3 months, I went there. Coincidentally, that story happened again and that same boy gave me another free newspaper again. I said, "I can’t accept it." But he said, “I give you from my profit.”

After 19 years, I had been rich and I decided to find that boy. I found him after one and half month's search. I asked him, "Do you know me?" He said, “Yes, you’re famous Bill Gates.”

I said, "You gave me free newspaper 2 times many years ago. Now, I want to compensate it. I am going to give you everything that you want." Black young man replied, “You can’t compensate it!”
I asked why? He said, "Because I gave you when I was poor. You want to give me when you are rich. So, how do you compensate?"

Bill Gates said, "I think that black young man is richer than me."

You don't have to be rich or wait to be rich to give......

Real attitude of giving is when you lack.

Keep the Spirit Alive.

Why Do Families Abandon Their Fathers At Old Age

1. In the lifetime of most Nigerian family settings, there are 3 Dispensations of Power.

2. The 1st is the first 25 years in the life of the family  (father, mother, children) where power indisputably rest with the father.

3. The 2nd is after the kids have grown & started working when the power shifts to the mother.

4. The 3rd is when the kids move out of the family house or start their own families when the power moves to the children.

6. We'll start from the 1st Dispensation. Total dominance of the father. He is the Lion of the Tribe of his House. The boss.

7. During this dispensation, the father rules with an iron fist. He barks orders & determines what does or does not happen.

8. The father often mettes out corporal punishment to the recalcitrant children. They grow to fear him more than they love him.

10. The father is the provider for the family & everyone is aware of that fact with all attendant consequences.

11. Then the 2nd Dispensation sets in. The children have finished school and have started working. Power shifts to the mother.

12. When the children start earning their own money, for some reason, it's their mothers they decide to look after. They are closer to her.

13. While the father was in charge, he was busy with the business of providing. He didn't have much time to be a friend to the children.

14. They spent more time with their mum and invariably grew closer to her. They also see their mum as co-victims of the father's tyranny.

15. The mother takes centre stage at this point. She is the first to know what's happening with the children & she has advantage.

16. Should any of the daughters give birth, she is the one that goes for babysitting and the children spoil her with gifts.

17. At this stage, the father is wishing for some bond with the children like they have with their mother but that boat has sailed.

18. Because the mother doesn't rely much on the father for her needs at this stage, she is less likely to tolerate his lordship. Friction.

19. Then the 3rd and last dispensation. Power has shifted to the children. They are self-sufficient, live on their own & have own families.

20. More often than not, whenever there is a quarrel between father & mother, the children side the mother.Years of joint-victimhood at play

21. Children have been known to come to the house to warn their father not to 'disturb' their mother. Next thing, extended visitations.

22. Woe betide the father if his finances are precarious at this stage. You will be humble by force. The gang-up is real.

23. This causes most men to fall ill & develop different complications. By the time the forces are arrayed against you, you will think well.

24. Stroke, Hypertension, High-Blood Pressure. The man has a large family but no relationship with them in later life. Troubling thought.

25. Moral, dear men, while the power lies with us, let us wield it with posterity in mind. It won't be with us forever.

26. With the way you are treating your wife now, how will she treat you when power shifts to her?

27. What relationship do you have with your family? Loving dad or despotic, tyrannical provider?

28. Remember, the children always side with their mother. Aim to do enough to at least get a fair hearing in future moments of family strife

30. Invest wisely for the future so that you won't have to beg to be taken care of if despite your best efforts, you find yourself alone.

ADVISE TO CHILDREN:- IT IS NOT GOOD TO ABANDON YOUR FATHER WHO DENIED HIMSELF TO GET YOU PREPARED FOR LIFE & WHO SACRIFICIALLY SOWED TO MAKE YOU WHO YOU ARE. HONOR YOUR BOTH PARENTS AND TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM IN THEIR OLD AGE. THAT IS HOW YOU TOO WILL SOW INTO YOUR FUTURE. DONT LET NEGLECTING YOUR FATHER (PARENTS ) BE A CURSE ON YOU INTO YOUR FUTURE.

24 Self Development Tips

24 SELF DEVELOPMENT TIPS

1. Make friends with successful people and occasionally buy them gifts and surprise them with lunch because successful people always give and hardly get, so when you give them, they value the gift a lot.

2. Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy.

3. Make new positive friends as often as possible and ensure you keep the communication line open. Create a network of friends and not just connections.

5. Show kindness to everyone. Some small boys today will be big boys tomorrow. The biggest dog in the neighbourhood was once a puppy. Keep the information/secret to yourself.

6. Always plan ahead and be proactive. He that plans the future works less in the future.

7. Listen to speeches and messages from great teachers, both religious and educational.

8. Attend seminars and trainings on any area you need to improve yourself - Train the trainer, personal development, public speaking, sales etc.

9. Have the habit of keeping a pen and a writing pad handy because ideas come in the form of flashes. The smallest pen is bigger and better than the biggest brain.

10. Make sure at every point in time you are reading a book. If you spend 20 minutes reading daily, for 52 weeks you would have consumed 1,000,000 words.

11.Stay away from television as much as possible. You can watch educational channels. Men with big TV sit in front of them to watch men with big libraries.

12 Put control over your mouth; never say evil of any man; what you are not certain of should not be said. Say good of all men.

13. Always show appreciation for any good deed you received.

14. Always help someone in need.

15. Live a debt free life. What you can’t pay cash for is not your size.

16. Give out loans that you can part with as gift, so that you don’t destroy your business and relationship.

17. Create legitimate multiple sources of income.

18. Save at least 10 percent of your income.

19. Invest a portion of your income, and be patient to see it grow. If what you have in your hands is not good to be called a harvest then it’s a seed; sow it.

20. Keep a good financial record of all income and expenses, so you won’t ask later “where did my money go”

21. Be involved in community service- Control traffic, free lesson class for students etc.

22. Keep getting better on your daily goals and dream, develop yourself on them and make sure you get to the top 10 % of your industry.

23. Make sure you engage in physical exercise. It keeps your brain alert and your body fit to enjoy your success.

24. Pray always, and know that for every success, God made it possible.

Wishing you the very best in life. Practice what you just read, and see the difference your life would record in 2 years.

Open Letter To NIGERIA President; Buhari by C.Ogbu

OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUHARI.

By Charles Ogbu.

Mr President, Sir,

This open letter is necessitated by issues of urgent national importance not unconnected with your 3 minute recorded broadcast to Nigerians this morning where you stated that Nigeria's unity is settled and not negotiable.

Mr President, Sir, I wasn't exactly born with a talent for political correctness so I like to assume your permission to pay you the courtesy of being blunt.

First, I want to register my displeasure that you, a mere servant and employee of the Nigerian people, could derisively address your employers and the same people paying your salaries even when you are hardly at work, as "my dear citizens" instead of "my fellow citizens".

That derisive opening line in your speech lend more credence to an already established fact which is that you are an arrogant victim of messiah complex who sees his people, not as his employers whose wishes he must harken to, but as lesser mortals and slaves who are his to do as he pleases. Even Emperor Nero didn't address Romans in that condescending manner.

Mr president sir, we are not your citizens. We are not even just your fellow citizens! We are your employers! We are your boss! We pay your bill. We feed you, Mr president. Talk to us with some respect!

Mr president, when you told us how you discussed with Ojukwu in 2003 and agreed that Nigeria's unity is non negotiable, what exactly did you think the reference to the late Biafra strong man would achieve?

Did you think that line would magically address all the institutionalized grave injustices in the system which you've made worse with your open display of tribal bigotry, vindictiveness, raw hatred for people from a particular section of the country and criminal disregard for the same constitution you swore to protect??

That you believe the unity of over 180 million people is something you, a Fulani man and Ojukwu, an Igbo man, can sit in your small sitting room somewhere in your small village of Daura and conclusively discuss, says a whole lot about how much value you attach to the so called unity.

As a free citizen of a free world and one of those paying your salaries, I find that statement criminally offensive and hopelessly disappointing. But even more disappointing is the fact that even after spending billions of our tax money and over 100 days treating an undisclosed ailment abroad, you seem not to have learnt anything from your numerous administrative blunders and trailer load of un-presidential utterances, actions and inactions which in most part, are responsible for the mess we are in today.

Mr President sir, let me remind you that you, it was, not Nnamdi Kanu, who resuscitated and fuelled the current Biafra agitation. Even the activities of the Niger Delta militants were all birthed by your tact-less, bigoted, vindictive and mostly common-sensically bankrupt utterances and actions.

And to prove that you are an unteachable ethnic jingoist with an iniquitious sense of national unity and an atrocitious sense of governance, all through your 3 minute address,

You didn't tell your employers the kind of ailment that kept you away from your duty post for over 100 days and gulped billions of tax payers' money.

You didn't announce measures to resuscitate the economy which your criminal ineptitude and analogue economic plans largely played a part in destroying.

You didn't mention measures you plan on taking towards addressing the grievances of the secessionist groups even when you admitted some of their grievances are genuine.

You didn't make any assurances towards calming freyed nerves considering the mood of the country.

You didn't categorically condemn the series of terror your fulani brethren are visiting on Nigerians. Instead, you played it down as mere herdsmen/farmers clashes.

You didn't even categorically condemn your siblings (Arewa Youths) for publicly threatening genocide on Igbos living in the North come October 1st, 2017.

You did none of the above.

Instead,

You spent almost 50% of your broadcast threatening social media users and aggrieved citizens who are only asking you to treat them as equal stake-holders in the Nigeria project or allow them quit this oppressive union. The other 50% was wasted on tales about your meeting with Ojukwu where the duo of you supposedly decided on behalf of over 180 million of us that the unity of Nigeria is non negotiable.

In a nutshell, you spent over 100 days abroad on medical tourism on tax payers' money against your campaign promises only to come back with nothing but a trailer-load of insult, derision and threats for the same citizens who paid and are still paying all your hospital bill and salaries even when you were hardly doing any job??

Quite frankly, Mr President, that speech would easily pass off as one hell of comedy except it was a tragedy.

You've simply proven that you are a man far detached from reality. It would seem you are still stuck in 1985. Indeed, a leopard never changes its skin.

Now, my dear president, as one of your employers, Iet me gift you with some piece of advise:

First, Nigeria is not a nation unless we've all decided to adopt a very confused and lopsided understanding of the term, "nation". More importantly, our unity as a people is a farce. It doesn't exist. You cannot discuss the negotiability or non-negotiability of a unity that only exist in your imagination.

How can there be unity when you, Mr President, went to a foreign land and publicly promised to discriminate against those who didn't vote you with your infamous 97%_5% speech?

Where is the unity when you were busy gifting boko haram terrorists and the marauding herdsmen with a juicy amnesty package and military protection respectively at the exact time you were, and still are, visiting the unarmed Biafra agitators with festival of bullets?

Most importantly, Mr President, mentioning "unity" and "non-negotiable" in the same sentence betrays a very poor appreciation of the queen's language. If it's unity, then the powers that bind the parties together must have been birthed through negotiations. In which case, any talk about the non-negotiability of such unity becomes the height of conscientious idiocy bothering on the fringes of lunacy. If it's unity that was a product of force, then it's no unity at all.

Mr President sir, the clause "our unity is non-negotiable" is an Oxymoronic expression.

You cannot threaten people of diverse cultural, religious and language background into nationhood!!!!

Unity cannot be forced!

On your threats to agitators, Mr President, you proved you lack basic understanding of what the issues are. It is not just the southeast that is aggrieved, both the south south, south west and even the North, your own region, are all aggrieved as examplified by the October 1st quit  notice and threat of genocide against Igbos living in the North. Every section of the country is aggrieved. Rather than proving you are too bloodthirsty for dialogue, initiate a workable time-bound plan towards restructuring this country in such a way to enthrone justice, fairness, equity and merit.

Restructure this British contraption now!

Or,

Watch the whole country collapse under the weight of its own internal contradictions.

The fastest way of escalating an agitation is by trying to suppress it rather than addressing the issues that birthed it.

Mr President, sir, I am not unaware of the fact that in the coming days, we are going to be witnessing more killing of the unarmed pro-Biafra agitators and series of arrests, abduction and incarceration targeted at social media users and your political opponents but I have a message for you, sir, just as we survived your brutality between 31 December 1983 to 27th August 1985, We Will Survive You!

This, too, shall pass!

I wish you exactly what you wish Nigerians.

                                                 Love from
                                                Charles Ogbu.

Un Armed Robbers In Europe Bound Flights

If your flying to Spain read this, it happened to someone I know.

I would like to draw your attention to an attempted robbery on a flight into Malaga last week. With an hour to go, during the flight, I thought I noticed my bag being replaced in the overhead locker. I wasn't sure and decided it was probably a fellow passenger, moving it to access their own bag.

I dismissed any thought of any wrong doing, but upon arrival in Malaga, something told to me to retrieve the bag, just to make sure nothing suspicious had occurred. When I opened the overhead locker (not above me) and saw my leather bag was the only one occupying the space I knew there was a problem. I examined the contents, only to find my wife's jewellery, along with some cash had been stolen, during the flight.

I raised the alarm and my wife and I quickly blocked both aisles to stop anyone disembarking....there were around 120 passengers....

My wife and I both shouted for assistance from the stewards and stewardesses. Eventually a steward told me that security had been called but passengers were becoming very agitated and unwilling to show patience or understanding....they just wanted to get off the plane....my wife and I were the only people controlling the passengers.

I pleaded with the passengers to check their own bags at which point three fellow travellers reported they had also been robbed. It was only at this point, did I see any evidence from the cabin crew that they were willing to provide any meaningful support.

I vaguely remember seeing a passenger wearing black, sporting a white base-ball cap and pleaded with the rest of the passengers to see if they could remember anyone fitting my description.  It turned out to be a passenger standing in front of me, who once identified proceeded to offload money, jewellery, camera equipment and false documents, running into thousands, pounds worth of stolen goods.

By this time security had boarded the plane, the Captain had been informed and was standing by the flight deck watching the events unfold.

Eventually a Spanish policeman boarded the plane and I was able to explain the events leading up to my apprehending the thief. I have since been informed this criminal activity is reaching epidemic proportions and the authorities caught three thieves, just last week, (with 30 already on remand since January) on flights into Malaga.

It is estimated that only 5% are being caught judging by the reports of passengers contacting the police after they have arrived at their destination.

I am told that the thieves board first and sit in the back row of the plane observing where bags are behind or away from the passengers and systematically pull them from the overhead lockers, while passengers rest, take them to the back of the plane and steal any valuable contents.

They prey on foreign budget airlines as the penalties are so lenient, the pay-off makes it worth the risk.

I naively have never thought of robbers operating on planes, but now I have experienced it first hand, there are a few takeaways:

1. Hand luggage should ALWAYS be locked.
2. Do not assume luggage under your seat is safe....last week one passenger had her purse stolen by the guy sitting next to her while she slept!!
3. If in doubt, wear or keep any valuables ON YOU at all times!!
4. Don't assume, like me, that everyone on a flight is a law-abiding citizen.
5. Do not assume business class travel is secure....robbers can be wealthy.

Thriving Human Eggs Business In Lagos Nigeria

http://punchng.com/ovum-trading-inside-nigerias-multi-million-naira-human-egg-business/

*MOTUNRAYO JOEL, who posed as a young lady willing to sell her eggs for money, visited three fertility clinics in Lagos and writes about the multi-million naira human egg trade in Nigeria.*

My two months exploration of Nigeria’s little known multimillion naira trade in human eggs started with a very personal question thrown at me by a complete stranger.

“Are you menstruating?” a nurse inquired brusquely shortly after I had walked into the bungalow at the back of a clinic in Lagos.

I answered in the negative.

Then with the practised ease of someone who had addressed many willing ovum sellers before, she said, “Then come here when you start menstruating, we can only harvest your eggs during your period. Also do a genotype test at any good laboratory and bring it along with you when you are on your period. And don’t come in through the reception next time, just come straight to the back.”

Intrigued, I asked her why I couldn’t come in through the reception. She said, “We don’t want you to run into people you may know. Also, we don’t want the recipients to know the ladies that are selling the eggs that will be used for their In Vitro Fertilisation.”

To this nurse, I was just like any of the small group of women waiting in the reception area of the hospital, (age range: 19-25). It was obvious we were all there to do just one thing: sell our eggs for cash.

One of us was a woman in the corner of the room, holding on to her stomach and writhing in pains. She could barely sit down.

“This procedure is painful, really painful, but it is something one can endure,” she said in a frail voice, gritting her teeth.

On hearing that, half of the faces in the room changed. Fear. Seeing that we were petrified, she quickly assured us saying, “There is nothing to be scared of. I’m just feeling some pains, I will be alright.” But it wasobvious no one believed her. She was still holding on to her tummy.

I moved to an empty space beside her and told her that I was desperately in need of money, hence my decision to sell my eggs. Iadded that I was afraid of the procedure seeing the pain she was in. She told me it was her second time of donating her eggs at the fertility clinic located in Ikeja GRA and I had nothing to fear.

“The last time I did it, I was allowed to sleep for about two hours. After a few hours, you will feel better. But I think they have morewomen booked for the procedure today, so they asked me to vacate the bed,” she said.

I asked her if she was married. She replied, “Yes, I have two children. My husband is aware of my decision. I’m doing this to support him topay the children’s school fees and rent. I’m paid N120,000 each time they harvest my eggs.”

I was surprised at her openness and willingness to converse. I also noticed the other women were chatting.

Fertility medicine is a recent but rapidly growing sub-sector of the healthcare system in Nigeria. Across the country, there is always hugepressure on couples to have children after marriage. Such pressure mostly comes from family and friends.

This pressure, and the re-emergence of a high-spending middle class in recent years, is believed to be responsible for the rapid growthof fertility clinics.

According to experts, 60 per cent of gynaecologic consultations in Nigeria are infertility-related while 25 per cent of Nigerian couplessuffer infertility.

In most fertility clinics, the average cost of In Vitro Fertilisation is N1, 500,000. However, this amount is no big deal to Nigeria’s super rich, who occupy the demand end of this thriving trade. Daily, hundreds of Nigeria’s elite who would like to have their own children, throng fertility clinics for IVF treatment.

But in the hospital that evening, those who use the harvested eggswere not in sight. This group was solely made up of sellers. At a point, ayoung woman walked in.

Dressed in a black-fitting gown with grey slippers, she didn’t look older than 20.

Resting her back behind the wall and admiring her grey-painted false nails, she listened for a while and then joined our conversation: “I have come to pick up my cheque. There is no big deal in the wholeprocess, I’ve done it twice and I will do it all over again. I was paid N120,000 each time I sold my eggs. I decided to do something that would fetch me money. The process is not painful. The only time you feel little discomfort is after your eggs are removed.

“Also, whenever I bring a lady that successfully donates her eggs, I get N20, 000. This is a lot of money. Imagine making N20, 000 at once. I don’t see anything wrong with it.”

The scan room

As I moved round fertility clinics in Lagos, I discovered a small subset of women sellers whom I would call ‘pros’. They are the oneswho have harvested and sold their eggs a few times and who have also built a business around sourcing other willing egg sellers for hospitals.

Madam False Nails belongs to this group. Acting as if I was scared ofthe process, I squeezed my face and told her I was afraid.

“There is nothing to be scared of. It’s painful but after some minutes you will feel better later. I am the first child of my parents. Every time Iget the N120, 000 after donating, I use it to take care of my siblings and I. It goes a long way to help my family.”

Her friend, who had kept quiet till then, chipped in, “I am an undergraduate from a poor home too. Selling my eggs is not a crime and I do it anytime I need money. This is my fourth time. When I collect theN120,000, it goes a long way in taking care of my needs. Is it not better than prostitution or stealing?”

While it is true that the National Health Act (2014) does notcriminalise the eggdonation, it is silent onthe trade.

Section 51 of the Act states that removal of tissues from living persons must be done in only, “A hospital authorised for that purpose and on the written authority of the medical practitioner in charge of clinical services in that hospital or any other medical practitioner authorized by him or her.”

In Canada, New Zealand and France, there is a ban on monetary compensation for egg donation. The United Kingdom prohibits payment for donors but they may receive a fixed amount of money to cover any financial loss they may incur in connection with the donation. In the United States, the sale of human eggs is not an offence. Prices for harvested human eggs vary, but they range from $3,500 to $5,000.

When the nurse returned, she was surprised to see me hanging around after had I been asked to come back during my menstruation. I stood up and left. But as I walked out, I heard her asking five of the women to follow her into the inner recesses of the hospital.

Crucial tests

The next time I visited the hospital, the nurse was friendlier. She met me with a barrage of questions. “Ha, you are back, do you have your genotype test result? Are you now on your period?” she asked with a huge smile on her face. I nodded my head, smiled back and gave her the result of a medical test carried out at a laboratory in Fagba, Lagos.

“The test result shows that your genotype is AA. The first step is for us to take your blood sample to confirm that the result is genuine.” She directed me to the clinic’s laboratory where I met two nurses. One of the nurses in the lab took my blood sample without saying a word to me.

An obstetrician/gynaecologist at the Kwara State Specialist Hospital, Ilorin, Dr. ShukrahOkesina, explained why fertility clinics conduct blood test.

“Hormones that are secreted in the blood will usually indicate if a woman is ovulating properly and if her eggs are in good shape,” she said.

My next port of call was a popular fertility clinic in Ikoyi. There, a young receptionist threw the ‘menstruation question’ at me again and directed me to the back of the hospital.

After about 30 minutes, a young slim, fair-complexioned lady in a pair of jeans walked in. I smiled at her and asked if she also wanted to sell her eggs.

“I’m really scared, I heard that the retrieval is really painful,” I said to her.

She answered, “No, it is not painful. I have done it seven times. Ensure that you don’t eat heavy food after the procedure. Just drink water and eat light food. I remember the first time I did it, I had a heavy meal and my stomach was very swollen. I could barely walk. I thought I was going to die. I was scared and had to come back to the hospital. I was treated but I had to pay for the treatment, even though I had just sold my eggs to them. I learnt after that.”

“Seven times? Is that not dangerous? Why are you here for theeighth time?” I reeled out my questions with concern etched on my face.

“I need the money. My mum stays with me and I am the bread winner. The first time I was paid N100, 000. I also got the same amount the second time. But by the third time, the clinic paid me more than N100, 000,” she answered.

Medical experts, however, say excessive egg donors stand a risk of ovarian failure. A consultant/obstetrician, Dr. Aloysius Inofomoh, said it is not advisable for a woman to harvest her eggs more than once.

He said, “A lady can donate (her eggs) twice and stop. The more she donates her eggs, the more she has a higher risk of developing cancer because she keeps injecting the fertility drugs into her body. These drugs are not to be used all the time.

“Moreover, a lady has a genetic clock that determines when her eggs would be exhausted. A woman, who frequently donates her eggs, risks ovarian failure and she never knows when her eggs will be exhausted.

“Ovarian failure is when the ovary is resistant to effect of hormones that make it release eggs, because the eggs have been exhausted. A woman is supposed to release a number of eggs in her life time.

“Unfortunately, some women’s risk of degeneration (eggsexhaustion) is higher than others because they have a lower amount of eggs to release in their life time.”

Another obstetrician/gynaecologist, Dr. ChiomaOnyekwere, acknowledged that a woman who trades her eggs multiple times risks ovarian failure.

She said, “The issue is that every woman has a specified number of eggs. Once a woman exhausts her eggs, she is done. The more she frequently donates her eggs, the more she has the tendency of reaching a time of burnout earlier than it should have been. Naturally, egg is released just once a month, but in the process of egg donation, there is what we call super ovulation, the drugs cause more than one egg to mature.

“A woman has a specific number of eggs and frequent donation could lead to depletion. For commercial basis, it is advisable a woman donates her eggs once or twice. These ladies should also bear in mind that they need to raise their families.”

In Nigeria, the minimum wage is N18, 000 and about 112 million out of its 160m population are living in poverty. Thus, many young women find the offer of fertility clinics irresistible.

“The money is very tempting, it takes care of bills. It is so hard to say no. In fact, the hospital calls me voluntarily. I think it’s because my eggs give good results during the IVF for the recipients,” the young seller at the Ikoyi fertility clinic said.

As we carried on, a nurse walked in and separated the lady who wasabout trading her eggs for the eighth time and I.

It was time yet for another blood test.

We went into her office, she took my blood sample and gave me yet another form to sign.

I took the form and tried to read the tiny prints before signing. That action upset the nurse and quickly she grabbed the form, and pointed her hand to where I was meant to sign. I insisted on reading the form.

“You can go now, we will call you later,” she said.

She never did.

At another fertility clinic located in Onikan, I told the female receptionist that I wanted to donate my eggs, she told me to go upstairs.

I met a nurse who asked me for my personal data.

Then she said, “Have you given birth?”

I answered in the affirmative.

She replied, “Oh sorry, we don’t accept ladies who have given birth.” As I walked out of the hospital, I asked the security guard if ladies sell their eggs frequently at the hospital.

He stated, “You need to come here on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It is always full with young girls that are trading their eggs.”

After three days, the hospital in Ikeja called again. “You need to come in for another test,” the nurse on the phone said. Before I could ask what this new test was about, she dropped the call.

I went a day after her call and met her at the back room again. She gave me an infection screening form and asked me to go to the laboratory. On my way, I popped into a toilet, just by the laboratory, and took a picture of the screening form.

On getting to the lab, a nurse that I was meeting for the first time took my blood sample again.

I decided to strike a conversation with her after giving her the infection screening form. She explained that apart from confirming my genotype, the hospital also wanted to be sure that I had no infection.

She said, “We just want to make sure you don’t have any infection and we also need to check your hormones.”

I went back to the first nurse and she asked me to go home that they would call me later. As I was about leaving, she gave me the sumof N1, 000.

“It’s for your transportation,” she said.

‘You have good ovaries’

After about two weeks, I got another call from the Ikeja fertility clinic asking me to come for a scan.

On the day of the scan, I met a mother and her daughter in the waiting room.

I went close to the mother and said to her, “Is the scan painful? I am really worried.”

She replied, “There is nothing painful about it, they will just put an instrument in your private part to check your ovaries. Within a few minutes, it will be over.”

Her daughter who looked like a 19-year-old, chipped in, “Mummy, I am scared. I hope it won’t pain me.”

“I’ve told you many times that it is not painful,” her mother retorted.

The nurse in the room also gave words of encouragement and said to me with a smile, “I don’t know why you are scared. I have been telling you that no pain is involved. Let me take you to a doctor for consultation.”

She took me the doctor’s office and turned back.

The heavily built and dark-skinned doctor started the conversation by asking me questions about myself, my parents, my occupation and knowledge about egg donation.

“Are you sure you are ready for this, why do you want to sell you eggs,” he asked further.

“I just want to help women that can’t bear children,” I answered.

“That’s very good,” he said.

The nurse interjected our conversation and said it was time for my scan.

The doctor and I walked to the scan room and had to wait for a few minutes before entering because another young lady was still dressing up in the room.

When we entered the room, we met an elderly doctor. The first doctor then said to the elderly one, “Let me do this while you watch.”

I was asked to change into a brown robe in a secluded corner of the room. I turned to the nurse who was waiting outside the changing corner and asked why two doctors wanted to attend to me, when only the elderly doctor attended to the lady before me.

“I won’t do this scan with two doctors in the room,” I told her sternly.

She walked up to the doctors and told them that I said I wanted only the elderly doctor to attend to me. The youngerdoctor walked out of theroom in annoyance.

“Relax, lie down on the bed and spread your legs,” the elderly doctor said.

“I’m scared,” I said to him.

He replied, “Don’t stress yourself. I am a very calm doctor. If you feel any pain, tell me to stop.”

He brought out a cream, long plastic instrument about the size of a ruler and commenced the invasive examination.

On the screen, my reproductive system appeared in black and white.

“Look at your ovaries, you have good ovaries. That’s your bladder there. Everything seems to be fine here. There is no problem.

“You see, it wasn’t painful,” he said to me as he finished.

I went back to the bungalow at the back of the hospital. The nurse gave me the terms and conditions form and asked me to sign it.

One of the terms and conditions in the four-page document given to donors at the clinic read:

“I understand that there is a risk of getting pregnant, so there is need for abstinence from sexual intercourse.”

Other conditions include relinquishing any rights to any child resulting from the eggs of the donor, accepting the administration of hormones/drugs/ anaesthetics, among others.

Luckily, the nurse stepped out of the room and I took a picture of each page of the form before she returned. I signed the form and gave it to her. She gave me another N1, 000 for my transportation and said I should expect a call from her.

Important drugs

On April 4, the nurse at the Ikeja clinic asked me to come for some fertility drugs.

I met two different nurses who gave me a lecture on the importance of the drugs.

One of them said to me, “You will make the hospital be at a loss if you don’t complete your dose or stop half way.

“We will give you two bottles of the drug now, including 23 pieces of syringes, mentholated spirit and cotton wool. When you finish the two bottles of the liquid drug, you will come in for the third bottle. To give yourself the injection daily, you can choose any spot below your navel or your thigh.

“It is important you use either of these two spots because this drug needs fat to transport itself. When you put the syringe into the bottle to suck out the drug, make sure it’s 50ml, which is half. You must not fillthe syringe with the drug. Also, you must not miss any day. Once youstart, you must take it every day within the same hour. If you skip anyday, it will spoil the process.’

She added that if I developed any complications, I should come straight to the clinic.

“What are the likely complications?” I asked.

“You may experience pain in your breast, dryness in your vagina, headaches, nausea, Ovarian Hyper-Stimulation Syndrome. But OHSS is not a serious condition and it doesn’t happen to all the girls that sell their eggs.”

Then she gave me a form that would help me keep track of how I administer the injections daily.

As I was about to leave, she gave me N1, 000 for my transportation. “We will call you after about three weeks when you must have finished the drugs just to check on how you are doing and that everything is fine.”

But a clinical pharmacist at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, Mrs. Ogochukwu Onwujekwe, said the side effects of the drug were graver than the nurse mentioned.

She said, “The injection is a gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist that controls the release of eggs from the ovaries by stopping the production of natural hormones.

“It is used to desensitise the pituitary gland to stop the natural production of the follicle stimulating hormone and the lutenising hormone. When this is achieved, synthetic Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Luteinising Hormone and Human Chorionic Gonadotrophinsare then administered in order to artificially stimulate ovulation.

“The possible side effects include Central Nervous System-headache, light-headedness, mood changes and nervousness. This also includes heart-palpitations; skin-pimples; dry skin; itching; allergic reactions; changes in scalp and body hair. Musculoskeletal-tumour flare may manifest an increase in bone pain and spinal cord compression. There is also the worsening of urinary tract symptoms, blood in urine, increase in menstrual bleeding, urinary obstruction, vaginal dryness, hot flushes and loss of libido.”

For donors who have had the procedure many times, the clinical pharmacist highlighted the price of continuous usage of the drug.

“It could lead to a high order of multiple pregnancies and could give rise to a medical condition called Ovarian Hyper-Stimulation Syndrome. This happens when the ovaries overreact to continuous use of a fertility drug that stimulates egg growth. Most cases are mild but it could lead to serious illness and even death,” she said.

The African Anti-Abortion Coalition , in a September 2012 report, stated that over 10 million poor African women will die each year from the resulting complications of OHSS, or suffer kidney failure, liver failure, cancers, infections and infertility.

Although there have not been official report of deaths from egg donation procedures in Nigeria, some of the women this correspondentspoke with said they experienced some side effects from taking theprescribed drugs. Their experiences included headaches, cramps and nausea.

Last year, a 23-year-old Indian woman, Yurma Sherpa, was said to have died after an egg donation procedure at an IVF clinic. Shereportedly sustained internal bleeding in her pelvic region and her ovaries were “hypertrophied.”

According to a report by the Indian Express, the post-mortem found haematoma or clotting of blood in the peritoneum (stomach cavity), around her uterus and ovaries, indicating internal bleeding.

The Managing Director, Global Profile Alliance, Dr. Philip Njemanze, is totally against the egg trade. According to him, there should be a law against it because of the harm it does to the donors and because some IVF clinics are taking advantage of the procedure.

He said, “In the British embryology law, it is stated that one cannot use an egg from a British, European and American woman. African women are an exception. This is because these countries are now harvesting eggs from Africa. Once the egg is harvested, it is fertilized with sperm and it becomes a whole human being. Some of the eggs these girls sell are sold abroad.

“Nigeria has the largest egg harvesting operation in the world. Today, millions of Nigerians are exported in small test tubes from IVF clinics around Nigeria for money. These biotechnology companies who buy these eggs slaughter them in European and American laboratories for embryonic stem cell research.”

Njemanze further spelt out the risks of the process:

He said, “Retrieval of eggs is a high risk process; the process itself involves an operation. An ultrasound is done to locate the ovary anda long needle is passed through a space. By passing this needle, the doctor is bound to pierce through areas to remove the egg. This process automatically decreases the chance of every donor having children because women are born with a specific number of eggs. Through the operation used to remove eggs, the donor may develop an infection because that area, where the egg is, is a sterile area. As the eggs are drawn out, microorganisms are introduced. Infection is one of the major immediate effects of this process. It is a high probability. If the donor doesn’t develop an infection, the donor is bound to develop infertility to some extent, it is a major risk.

“Secondly, before eggs are extracted, the donor injects herself witha series of injections to make her eggs grow in an unnatural way. The drug she injects herself with makes all her cells grow. If there is a cell turning cancerous, and the body could have suppressed it using the defense mechanism of the body, what happens is that, that cancerous cell begins to grow incontrollable. Most women who donate eggs may develop some kind of cancer — cervical, breast or any type of cancer. Cancer is a major risk. “Her organs — liver, kidney — all have a limitation to the amount of growth a body can stimulate in a natural way. Once such growth is stimulated, the normal function of such organ is compromised; hence she is at a risk of developing liver failure andkidney failure.”

‘We are disappointed in you’

About 28 days after collecting the drug, the nurse called to ask when I was coming in for the retrieval of my eggs. “You should have finished using the injection, when are you coming for the procedure?” she asked.

I told her that I decided to pull out of the process.

She became livid.

She said, “Do you know how much loss you have brought upon the clinic? The lady, who we partnered with you, to collect your egg hasalready paid for your test, and other bills. Is it fair that she now has to pay for another egg donor? Please return our drugs, each of those bottles cost us N8,000, we can’t afford to waste such money.”

The nurse has called back about 15 times since then.

Editor’s note: The names of hospitals and sellers are not used in this story because donation/sale of eggs is voluntary and legal in Nigeria.

48 Laws Of Women .!.........Ha

48 laws of women
The lion inside men does not eat women...
At one time, a newly married young man was shouting at his 20 years old wife and his father called him inside and said to him, 'We only shout at people our threats could give fear but not the same to a woman especially the one you called your wife. The way you are shouting, you are given away your power and she is the one you are giving it to. Your threats make her stronger'. Most men believe that when a woman is being threatened, she is subdued. Thats a lie.
Let us not be blind and still feel we have our eyes wide open. Why is it that the moment a man starts having sex even with a 15 year old girl, she stops scared of him. If she was used to running to hide before when she sees him, that stops? I will tell you something about women we have never believed.
Eve first talked with serpent, the enemy of God. She never feared to meet with him. She was the one who brought Adam closer to the serpent. Adam must have heard things about serpent from God and he kept his distance. But the woman never did the same.
Women are not changed with fear. A woman may likely stay quiet when a man is threatening and shouting but she is not sitting down inside her. She is evaluating the man's weakness and how to subdue him rather. Throw your mind back to those days you knew the men that were beating their wives and now, the men are getting older, who is suffering it today? All those women their husband were beating years back are the ones enjoying the marriage with their children and their men are at the receiving end.
Let it become clear to men that the way into a woman's heart is not to try to subdue her. God spoke to men and said, 'Husbands, love your wife'. Do you need explaination about that? Love makes women weak. When you truly love a woman and prove it, she submits to you without you saying a word. But when a woman has sensed that she is just like your toy, the spirit of rebellion takes over her. She might not physically stand on your way but she is plotting coup against you and one day, you sit and watch her and her children force you to follow their rules or die quicker.
Almost all the great and fierce kings you know died before their wives. They lived all through their life threatening their fellow men and wives. They were able to kill most of their strong fellow men but all the women they threatened stayed alive. Women know her to survive against men.
The lion in men does not live up to doing to women the things it does to their fellow men. Women naturally know to survive pains. They can walk to the fearful serpent and make their demands.
2nd kings 8:1-6, the Shunemite woman left her country because of famine with her family and returned seven years later. She found out that her family valuables have been taken over by others. Her husband never stood up. The woman went straight to the king to ask for her things back. Where was her husband? There are things women fear but not the lion inside men. They can submit and respect their men so foolishly that you imagine that there is no gut inside them. They have guts men don't have.
One night I was driving down from coal city to my home town and got to an express junction. I needed to ease myself. I drove a bit passed the public site and stopped. Surprisingly, a very small young girl emerged from the dark and was asking if I needed a girl to take home with. At that young age, she was a prostitute but the issue there is, the gut to stay in the dark and come out to face a total stranger. A 15 years old girl can find her way where a man of 40 would rather get lost.
We don't have compatible relationship with women by showing the lion inside us. God knew women before us and begged that we show love than threats. He knew it won't be a formular. The formular is, conquer your woman with love. When a woman is loved, you break all her guts and she stays in your hands. A woman can do anything to stay with a man who is honestly in love with her

Hilarious Warri Boy. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜„

BE SMART!
A man walked into the produce section of his local supermarket and asked to buy a half head of lettuce. The boy working in that department told him that they only sold whole heads of lettuce. The man was insistent that the boy ask his manager about the matter.
Walking into the back room, the boy said to the manager, "one idiot wan buy half head of lettuce." As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, "but this gentleman don kindly agree to buy the other half." The manager approved the deal and the man went on his way.
Later the manager said to the boy, "I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. "Where are you from, son?" Warri, sir the boy replied. " Well, why did you leave Warri?" the manager asked. The boy said, "Oga, nothing de there apart from ashawo and footballers".
"Really?" said the manager. "My wife is from Warri."
"Na wah o!" replied the boy. "Which club she been dey play for?

Hate Fear Overcast in America

"You know what worries me? It's not that a group of racist idiots lit some tiki torches and decided to have a rally.
I worry that on Monday they'll go back to their job in human resources and decide who gets hired and who gets fired.
They'll put their uniform back on and "serve and protect."
They'll sit on a jury and decide the fate of a young person of color.
They'll teach in a kindergarten class.
They'll sit across from a couple, who came to this country, worked hard and saved, and have the power to approve or deny them a loan to purchase their first home.
They'll decide an insurance claim.
They'll give an estimate to repair the brakes on a mother's only mode of transportation to get to work each day.
I don't stay up late lamenting the fact that racists feel emboldened to parade in the street.
I stay up late because racists have, do, and will apply their racist beliefs in their daily lives and, by extension mine, and they don't do it carrying a banner to distinguish themselves.

It isn't the theatrical that worries me. It's the practical." Author unknown

Cherish Your Children While You Still Have The Chance

Enjoy the company of your children. Very touching message.
A beautiful post ..........from one mother to another mother

There were days when My home used to be filled with laughter, arguments, fights, jokes and loads of mischief.

Books used to be strewn all over the show. Pens and books all over, and clothes messing the rooms, thrown on the beds.

I used to shout at them to tidy up their mess.

In the morning:

One will wake up and say :
Mama I can't find a certain book.

And the other will say : I can't find my perfume,

And one will say : Mama where's my homework.

And another : Mama I forgot to complete my homework.

Everyone used to ask about their lost possessions.  And I will say, but take care of your stuff, be responsible, you have to grow up.

And today I stand at the doorway of the room. The beds are empty.  All the cupboards have only a few pieces of clothes in them. And what remains is the smell of perfume that lingers in the air.

Everyone had a special smell. So I take in the smell of their perfume for maybe it will fill the empty ache in my heart.

All I have now is the memory of their laughs and their mischief and their warm hugs.

Today my house is clean and organized and everything is in its place, and it is calm and peaceful. But it is like a desert with no life in it. Do not become angry with your kids about the mess.

Every time they come to visit and they spend time with us, when they are ready to leave. They pull their bags and it is as if they tug my heart along with it.

They close the door behind them and then I stand still and think of the many times I shouted them to close the doors.

Here I am today, closing my own doors. Nobody opens it besides me. Each one gone to a different city or a different country.  All left to find their own path in life.

They have grown up and I wished that they could stay with me forever.

Oh! God..... Take care of them & all other children wherever they may be, for You are their guide and  protector ...and always keep them happy.

πŸ™πŸ™
If your children are still in the stage that you need to talk and talk before they could get things done in the house, please, cherish and endure it with joy, don't nag, they will soon leave your home for you, remember they were not there at the beginning of your marriage. Now that they are around, make them happy. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Your Salaries Keep You Close To Poverty

*FINANCIAL LITERACY:
What is your Salary?*

I am not interested in the amount but the type of salary.

My friend, there are different types of salaries. Read till the end and you will understand.

There is no average income.

The rich are becoming richer, while the poor are getting poorer.

There is no middle class because it has completely disappeared.

Salary, is a specific amount of money that an employee is paid for work done.

The big question is Which type do you earn?

1. *Onion Salary:* - You grab it, you open it, and you cry.

2. *Storm Salary:* - You don’t know when it’s coming or going.

3. *Menstrual Salary:* - It comes once a month and lasts only four days.

4. *Magic Salary:* - You touch it and it disappears.

5. *Amnesia Salary:* - You can’t remember what you spent it on.

6. *Time Travelling Salary:* - You spend it paying various debts even before you collect it.

7. *Active Salary* - Once you stop working, it stops.

But there is another one called *RESIDUAL INCOME*

What is Residual Income?

*You work once, and it keeps paying you over and over and over again even AFTER you have stopped working.*

Whether it's magic salary, amnesia salary or onion salary, the moment it STOPS coming, your life becomes unbearable.

*Financial LITERACY is the tool needed to TRANSFORM your salary into a RESIDUAL INCOME, so you can create financial freedom and time freedom.*

*ONLY YOUR INVESTMENT can keep you going even after all the onions, amnesty, traveling, active salaries have left you drenched.*

Research has it that the poorest group of people in the world are Salary earners, next to beggars.

They live in a vicious cycle of poverty managed on 30 days. Salary is continuously being awaited every month and any slight delay brings about heartbreaking anxiety, pressure and disappointment.

*Salary Is a short term solution to a life time problem.*

Salary alone cannot solve your money problems. You need multiple Sources of income to balance.

The tax returns form contains about 11 income streams, salary is just one.

Don't live Your Life fishing with just one hook, there are many fishes in the ocean.

*Salary is the MEDICINE for managing POVERTY, not the CURE. Only your BUSINESS or INVESTMENT Cures Poverty*

Most investors are not salary earners.

*The difference between those beggars on the street and salary earners is one month's salary.*

*Truncate the flow of their salary for one month and you would realize majority belong to the lower class.*

If you divide your salary by the rate of exchange, you will discover that you are poorer, relative to when you started work.

Or divide your salary per annum by 2,000 hours to know what your one hour is worth.

*If you do not have 3 months salary in savings, you are already poor.*

Being a salary earner is a mentality, break it!

Your worth Is far more than your salary.

*Salary Is the value someone has put on your effort, How much do you value yourself?*

You can't increase in value, unless you VALUE yourself differently.

Life Is a trade off between time, effort and reward. To be rewarded more, you have to become more valuable.

Most salary earners end up poor in the long and short term.

*Salary is the bribe they gave you to forget your dreams*.

I therefore urge every one of us to be FINANCIALLY INTELLIGENT, FINANCIALLY LITERATE and TRAIN OUR EYES TO SEE OPPORTUNITIES IN PROBLEMS. Delve into entrepreneurship because Salary is a lifetime disappointment.

Being a salary earner or investor is a decision. Life Will not change until you decide. Do that now.

We Often Drive Blessing Out of The Home Trying To Please A Spouse

A 30 year-old son decided to admit his father into an old peoples home as desired by his wife. He brought the father in a car to an old peoples home run by a Catholic priest.

Then appeared this elderly priest, who came out to have a long chat with the old man. The son wondered and asked the priest whether he knew his father before, since they were talking as though they knew each other. The priest replied, yes, and continued, "He came here 30 years back and took with him a very sick orphan boy who everyone else had rejected for adoption. This man gave that boy a home and save his life. He told us this little boy deserves better and I'll dedicate my life to make him the wealthiest young man when he turns 25".
The priest continued, "I don't know how long you have known him but I can tell you he is a good man and I am glad to inform you that you were the sick boy". The boy, on hearing this, fell on his knees and begged the old man for forgiveness. The old man looked at him with a smile and said, "Son, I have forgiven you. You threw me out of my own home because of your wife. Take the house, but know that I have removed you from my documents as the sole heir of my empire. I have willed all my properties to this orphanage where I now belong."

At the height of your success don't forget where you are coming from, if not you will miss your destination and lose your Crown.

I pray we will not forget those who helped us to get to the top.

Neymar vs Bill Gates; Education still Trumps Wealth

BETWEEN NEYMAR AND BILL GATES

Neymar will have  gotten his first alert of 248 million naira and every Thursday, like drug money it will be dropping like that! Chaiii, that one is too much oh, but what is the guy playing self?

Well, it is no longer news that last week _Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 the biggest contract ever in the history of world football was signed._

Neymar Da Silva Santos Junior officially signed for Paris Saint Germain from Spanish giant Barcelona after they met his buyout clause of €222M. Hours later the news of his weekly earnings of about €515,000 or 248 million naira broke the internet.

I will be the last person to dispute if Neymar is worth all that money because I have watched the guy and I can tell that he is good. He is talented, his dribbling skill, finishing, ease of taking defenders one-on-one and the shooting accuracy with both feet are all admirable, but above all these Neymar is simply a very strong and saleable brand. By Sunday, when PSG line up against Guingamp FC Neymar will get the first chance to show the watching world (will you watch the match?) why PSG is paying that much for his signature. The ideal scenario will be for Neymar to open his account with a hat trick in that match and win the man of the match - and that is exactly what I wish him.

But most amazing, most confusing and perhaps now annoying about that contract is what Nigerians have made out of it here at home. Most of us have misrepresented not just the worth but the significance and implications of that deal. Most social media users (including professionals) have made serious attempts to demean 'education' by comparing the monetary rewards that it offers to what football offers. I heard that A is no longer for Apple and B is no longer for Book. I understand that the new way of teaching children ABCD (in Nigeria) is to let them understand that A is for Attack, B is for Back pass, C is Control the Ball, D is for Defence and indeed every single footballing terminology is now used in learning the English Alphabet, and at the end of the day the lesson to the child is simple - you must play football whether you like it or not. But I think that is dangerous, we can't promote this ideology as a nation otherwise I am afraid of what the future holds. We will not be doing our generation any good if we encourage them to ignore education for the pursuit of money. Of course, you should know that I am a key promoter of the fact that going to university is completely useless if it is all about the degree, but for God's sake how can someone who is actually a graduate want to make it look as if it is all about the degree? In the first place why is the emphasis not on "what Neymar can do" but on the fact that he doesn't have WAEC result? Is PSG paying him that money because he didn't go to school or because he has proved himself competent enough in his chosen career? I think the emphasis should rather be on what someone can do rather than his academic qualifications otherwise all those without a secondary education will easily be earning like Neymar already.

Don't be deceived.

248 million naira per week is massive, in fact it is out of this world and you only get a better understanding of how big it is worth when you compare it with the average salary of a first class graduate here in Nigeria. You know you will need to earn 1 million naira average salary for 20 years and 8 months to hit that figure(bro when will you retire?), but guys, let's still not blow it out of proportion because there is another comparison.

Now, if Neymar without a WAEC result (according to those who claim to know) earns 248 million per week, how much does Bill Gates (who actually went as far as Harvard) earn? Mind you, Bill Gates went to school as far as Harvard, the whole talk of him dropping out is widely misrepresented.

He didn't drop out because he was not good enough, he didn't drop out because he was irresponsible, in fact he had a meeting with the school authority when it became obvious that he needed more time to work on the Microsoft idea and in his exact words he told the school that he was going on a 'leave of absence' and should return if the idea failed to work as planned.

He didn't leave the school empty, he left with the knowledge he had acquired, he left having made friends and built a network of like minds, he left having access to mentors from the school (for me, these are some of the most important reasons of going to university in the first place, and not just for that paper called certificate). With that knowledge and skill acquired directly or indirectly by going to school, Bill Gates was able to build Microsoft and in 2013 he earned 11.5 billion dollars in a single year. That figure would give you 1.38 million dollars per hour. What it means is that the 248 million naira Neymar earns in a week is what Bill Gates earns in 30 minutes.

Don't be deceived.

Why would I rather be a Bill Gates than a Neymar? Why would I rather point my kids to Bill Gates than to Neymar? It is simple. If you go by the figures, you have already seen it above. If you want to look at the future, then you will know that Neymar is 25 today, but will he still be playing football at this level at 35? What if in an unfortunate situation where he breaks his leg tomorrow (no one prays for that, but it does happen), that will be the end of everything, football doesn't even provide for pension or gratuity. But Gates can sleep for the rest of his life and the billions will keep flowing because alert has been set on auto run, he has 'programmed' his business directly into his bank account - with his knowledge (you need education to set up that kind of system). What if you are looking at relevance and significance, how many millionaires have Neymar made or will he ever make in his lifetime? Bill Gates has made 3 billionaires and over 12,000 millionaires.

I asked someone what Neymar will do with this money, and he said Neymar already has a private jet, now is the time to get a yacht and start paying for the penthouse of all the 5-star hotels in the world. Do you think someone who is well schooled will choose to spend the money that way?

Don't be deceived.

Education is still the key, education is still superior, education has birthed technology and technology is where the money is and not football. The most valuable club in the world according to Forbes 2017 rating is Manchester United and they are worth a whopping 3.69 billion dollars to edge both Barcelona and Real Madrid. But how whopping is that compared with the worth of Apple, Google, or Microsoft? In fact the total worth of the top 20 football clubs in the world (including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSG, Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus, Liverpool) is 29.6 billion dollars. Mark Zuckerberg can simply pull out a cheque from his back pocket and buy those 20 clubs without even discussing with the board of Facebook (that sounds like an insult but that is the fact). That is how powerful ideas are, that is how powerful knowledge can be, that is how powerful education can be. What would you rather choose for your child?

Don't be deceived.

The standard of education in Nigeria has dropped so badly that it is beginning to lose its relevance, but rather than turn our backs on it completely, rather than encourage our children not to go to school, rather than insult it the more, we should champion a course on how to make it what it ought to be and more attractive. We should teach our children the real importance of education and not just to come out and get a good job.

Trends are changing, the world has evolved and our educational system must evolve and not allowed to dissolve.

Don't be deceived. Send your children to good school if you can afford it, and after that allow him or her the freedom of choice and if he or she chooses to play football he will be buying football clubs and earning 10x what Neymar earns today.

I choose to go to school, learn how to build and buy existing businesses. I choose to go to school, learn how to employ the grace God has given me to serve humanity. I choose to go to school and learn how best my ideas can be a solution to the problems of the society.

What do you choose, for yourself and for your kids?

Don't be deceived.

Pope Francis Preaches Forgiveness In Families

Pope Francis wrote about the family.

FAMILY, PLACE OF FORGIVENESS ...

There is no perfect family. We do not have perfect parents, we are not perfect, we do not marry a perfect person or have perfect children.
We have complaints from each other. We disappoint each other. So there is no healthy marriage or healthy family without the exercise of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is vital to our emotional health and spiritual survival. Without forgiveness the family becomes an arena of conflict and a stronghold of hurt.

Without forgiveness, the family becomes ill. Forgiveness is the a sepsis of the soul, the cleansing of the mind and the liberation of the heart.
Whoever does not forgive does not have peace in the soul nor communion with God. Hurt is poison that intoxicates and kills. Keeping heartache in the heart is a self-destructive gesture. It's autophagy.
Those who do not forgive are physically, emotionally and spiritually ill.

That is why the family must be a place of life, not of death;
Territory of cure and not of illness;
Stage of forgiveness and not guilt.
Forgiveness brings joy where sorrow has produced sadness;
Healing, where sorrow has caused disease.

- Pope Francisco

A Nigerian Argues That A Church Can Refuse Donations From Ex Criminals

By Ben Okagbue

Ozubulu... death of the innocent

Yesterday gunmen stormed into a Catholic church in Ozubulu and gunned down members of the congregation who were attending Sunday mass. As the drama unfolded and social media was agog with gory pictures, the rumour mills started grinding and the blame was immediately directed at all sorts of terrorist groups. As the day progressed, however, the truth filtered through and it was revealed that the source of this massacre was an enemy within otherwise known as Greed.

It is said that innocent people lost their lives in the incident but let us ask ourselves, is anyone really innocent in this? Can any of us claim to be innocent? Are we really surprised that this incident occurred? Have we not been courting this enemy for several years now in Igboland? Is it something that started today?

According to reports corroborated by the governor of Anambra state, the incident was the outcome of a drugs war between two drug barons from Ozubulu who were fighting over a debt arising from a drugs deal. Having gone to the house of one of the barons known as “Bishop” and not finding him home, the gunmen proceeded to the church to seek him out and kill him. They marched into the church, saw his father and opened fire killing everyone who was in the way. What gave them the impetus to march into the church premises with their guns and open fire on ‘holy grounds’, committing an act that is a total abomination? They clearly did not recognize the holiness of the premises after all they were aware that the church was built from the proceeds of crime and drug sales. As far as they were concerned, they were home!

And that is where the problem lies. That is where we should begin to question our own innocence in this matter. Is there anyone in that town who was unaware of “Bishop’s” reputation or the source of his wealth? Didn’t the priests accept his blood money to build their church? Didn’t the villagers attend the church knowing where the funds came from? Didn’t they treat the donor and his father with deference because of his ill-gotten wealth? What other outcome could we then expect? How then can we claim to have been innocent?

I attended the funeral of my friend’s father in the East some years ago. At the end of the service, the priest began to name the ‘wealthy’ people in our midst and call them by name to come forward and make donations to the church. He thanked them all for being there and shamelessly badgered them for funds to renovate his church. Neither he nor the son of the deceased who assisted him in identifying the targeted donors saw it fit to thank the rest of us for travelling all the way from Abuja and assisting them in making the event a huge success. We were not important. The focus was on the wealthy people regardless of how this wealth was acquired.

I attended another funeral in Ojoto some years ago. During the proceedings, several men, clearly of questionable character strolled in, accompanied by armed policemen to emphasize their importance. Some were said to be sons of Igwes from neighbouring towns whilst others were clearly successful men of the underworld. One who looked like he was someone’s houseboy dressed up in an ill-fitting safari suit stepped forward with his gun and began shooting in the air. I was horrified and terrified at the same time, and I complained bitterly at the evident lawlessness on display. People around me including my friends, looked at me like I was some spoil sport. Couldn’t I see that this added colour to the event? No one was concerned that the indiscriminate shooting apart from being illegal, could have resulted in a serious accident. They all left at the same time, jumping into their SUV’s and shooting in the air. I was told that the purpose of this was to ward off potential armed robbers since they had ‘sprayed’ huge sums of money at the event. The children present looked on in admiration and awe. These were their heroes and role models approved by us, the adults.  So why are we shocked by Ozubulu’s tragedy?

For years, young men with little education and no visible means of income, have come home and built palatial houses for their parents. How many parents refused to live in those houses? What message does that send to the youth? The same people come to the villages and install boreholes and build roads. Soon enough the villagers ‘beg’ them to run for office and before you know it, they are installed in the State or National Assembly or even run for the governor’s office. No questions asked about the source of their wealth. Why then should we be shocked?

Bishop, the drug baron who the gunmen were after celebrated his 36th birthday commissioning roads that he tarred in his community. Governor Willie Obiano’s picture was used to advertise the event, thereby validating this young man. It appears from reports that the governor and the commissioner of police even attended the event. Did they ask him where the funds came from? Hadn’t they heard the rumours? Did they investigate? Are they really shocked at the outcome?

Instead of exhibiting all this shock and sorrow, we should resolve today to end this cycle of greed and worshipping criminals. It’s been going on for so long and we are all guilty. The lesson learnt from Ozubulu is that we are all potential victims so we can no longer pretend that it does not concern us.  Anyone of us could have been sitting in that church on Sunday. It was not an incident that just occurred, it was a disaster waiting to happen and it can happen again if we do not take steps to prevent it!
May the souls of all those lost in the incident at Ozubulu and all the faithful departed find peace and mercy of The Lord.. Amen!
