The Summary Of Obasanjo's Letter of No Confidence To Buhari

These are bullet points of what former President Obasanjo told President Buhari in his widely read statement By Sahara Reporters

  • President Buhari’s poor performance in office is marked by widespread poverty, insecurity, poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, encouragement of misdeeds, inability to bring about national cohesion and poor management of internal political dynamics.
  • Nigeria’s situation in the last decade has provided proof that the country has consistently failed to get her act together, a reason she has lost respect on the international stage.
  • This was what made me go against my own political Party (PDP), in the 2015 general elections and support the opposition.
  • It was not personal, but in the best interest of Nigeria, Africa and humanity at large.
  • Former President Jonathan, with whom I have maintained a very cordial relationship at all levels has come to realize his mistakes in office and has publicly, commendably, expressed regrets about them.
  • He still has a role to play on the sidelines for the good of Nigeria, Africa and humanity, but not as President again.
  • The situation that made Nigerians vote Jonathan out of office is, again, staring Nigerians in the face.
  • President Buhari’s weaknesses were well known to me and I spoke and wrote about then before I and other Nigerians voted for him because was a matter of “any option but Jonathan” (AOBJ).
  • My letter to former President Jonathan titled: “Before It Is Too Late” was a call to him to act before it was too late.
  • The former President ignored my letter to his detriment and that of those who advised him to ignore my warning.
  • Sycophants and media lynch mobs may be hired against me for verbal or even physical attacks.
  • But if I survived undeserved imprisonment and was ready to pay the ultimate price for Nigeria, no sacrifice is too great to make.
  • No human leader is personally strong or self-sufficient in all aspects of governance.
  • President Buhari has a poor grasp of the economy, but I expected him to use experts in that area.
  • Economy does not obey military orders and you have to give it what it takes in the short-, medium- and long-term.
  • He also has a poor grasp of foreign affairs, but I expected him to use Nigerians with expertise in that area.
  • There have been serious allegations of round-tripping made against some of the closest people to the Buhari Presidency and these seem to have been condoned.
  • These amount to corruption and financial crimes.
  • President Buhari has continued to turn a blind eye to these instead of arresting the trend.
  • I believed that President Buhari would fight corruption and insurgency and he has earned some credit in those areas, but there is still work to be done.
  • The Fulani herdsmen/farmers issue has been allowed to become debilitating.
  • President Buhari’s government gets no marks for its failure to find an effective solution to the menace of the herdsmen.
  • The endorsement of President Buhari for another term of office by some governors, a day after 73 victims of herdsmen were buried in a mass grave in Benue State, was symptomatic of insensitivity and callousness.
  • The administration of President Buhari needs to design a response to the herdsmen/farmers conflict in a way that protects life and properties of both sides and makes them to live amicably in the same space.
  • President Buhari, however, has shocked Nigerians most with his nepotistic deployment, bordering on clannishness, and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members of his nepotistic kitchen cabinet.
  • This has gravely affected his performance in office to the detriment of Nigeria.
  • National interest has been sacrificed for nepotistic interest.
  • The reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, the pension thief, into the Civil Service is proof of collusion, condonation, incompetence, dereliction of responsibility or kinship/friendship on the part of those who should have taken visible and deterrent disciplinary action.
  • Many cases like this have probably been kept away from the public and the media or ignored by the government.
  • President Buhari’s almost non-existent understanding of the dynamics of internal politics has further divided the country and made inequality more pronounced in a way that has badly affected national security.
  • Another major flaw of President Buhari is buck-passing.
  • He has been blaming the Governor of the Central Bank for the devaluation of the naira by 70% or so and blaming past governments for it, an indication of lack of willingness to accept his own responsibility.
  • The economy is driven by politics and because Nigerian politics is depressing, the Nigerian economy has slipped into greater depression.
  • If the country was in good shape, President Buhari would not have been required in office.
  • He was voted to knock the country into shape, not to engage in the perennial blame game.
  • The Nigerian constitution lists, as one of the cardinal responsibilities of the President, the management of the economy of which the value of the naira is an integral part.
  • While President Buhari’s brittle health merited the sympathy and prayers, he should avoid overstretching his luck or over-taxing the tolerance of Nigerians for him, irrespective of what bootlickers around him say.
  • President Buhari should not stand for re-election; he should go home and rest so that the country can use his wealth of experience on the sidelines when he is fully recovered.
  • Even without the issue of his brittle health, his advanced age makes him unsuitable to run the affairs of Nigeria.
  • As a brother, I advise President Buhari not to seek re-election on account of his age.
  • President Buhari may not heed my advice.
  • Irrespective of that, Nigeria needs to move on and move forward.
  • The two major political parties, APC and PDP, I maintain are wobbly platforms.
  • That the chief kingmaker of the PDP has insisted he must give direction to the party because he procured the Supreme Court judgement for his faction of the party portends danger.
  • Choosing between the two is akin to a distinction without a difference.
  • From its antecedents, the PDP has shown no better promise.
  • As its leader for eight years as President of Nigeria, I can confidently say that the party’s new their new team is hopeless.
  • Nigeria has only one choice: Coalition of the concerned and the willing - ready for positive and drastic change, progress and involvement.
  • The type of change that will give hope and future to innovate and work energetically at ideas and concepts in which they can make their own original inputs.
  • The youth must be part of the action today and not relegated to leadership of tomorrow, which may never come.
  • The type of change Nigeria needs is one that will result in enhancement of living standards and progress for all and under which the elected will accountably govern, offer equal opportunity not based on kinship and friendship but on free citizenship.
  • Nigerians must not sit by lamenting hopelessly.
  • The current situation is similar to the one in the country was at the return of democracy in 1999, when the country was on the precipice and dark clouds gathered politically, economically and socially.
  • The price of oil at that time was nine dollars per barrel and Nigeria had a debt overhang of about $35 billion.
  • Most people were confused with lack of direction in the country.
  • A factor that saved the country was a near- government of national unity put in place to navigate see the country through the dark cloud.
  • My government used people at home and from the Diaspora and we navigated through the dark cloud.
  • Where the country is a matter of choice.
  • Nigeria can still choose differently to make the necessary and desirable change, once again.
  • Everywhere I go, Nigerians are angry and in anguish
  • .But Nigerians can deploy to the anger to rescue the country from the position in which it currently is.
  • Self-pity, fruitless complaints or protests are impotent.
  • Constructive, positive engagement and collective action and moral re-armament are what the country needs.
  • Nigerians must accept that the present administration has performed to the extent of its ability, aptitude and understanding.
  • The administration and its political party need to agree that they have done the best they could and are incapable of doing better.
  • Nigeria deserves and urgently needs better than what they have given or what the country knows they are capable of giving.
  • Asking them to give more is unrealistic and will only sentence Nigeria to a prison term of four years, if not destroy it irredeemably.
  • Albert Einstein told the world that doing the same thing the same way and expecting a different result is the height of folly.
  • Nigerians are already committing suicide on account of the unbearable socio-economic situation they find themselves in.
  • While Nigerians love life, continually hoping that will be well is self-deceit.
  • Democracy is sustained and measured not by leaders doing extraordinary things, (invariably, leaders fail to do ordinary things very well), but by citizens rising up to do ordinary things extraordinarily well.
  • Nigeria’s democracy, development and progress, at this time, require ordinary Nigerians to do the extraordinary things of changing the course and direction of lustreless performance and development
  • If leadership fails, citizens must not fail

Lassa Fever Patient Rain Curses On Nigeria Healthcare System

.          📝 MY "LASSA FEVER" STORY 📝

Incompetence And Negligence Are Nigerians

___________________________________________

Whatever hope I had for, and whatever faith I had in, this country, especially its healthcare system; died a few days ago.The height of negligence and incompetence I came face-to-face with, these few days, left me shattered, and lost for words.

Not just was I  supposedly exposed unduly to a deadly virus, I was left with the headache of trying to contain its spread-- a task that should have been the exclusive reserve of the ministry of health, through its public health department.

And when I developed suggestive symptoms, I was refused treatment by a TEACHING HOSPITAL, and was left to fend for myself, even as I ran cross country, across the length and breadth of Nigeria, sick, exhausted, traumatized; and what more, possibly spreading the virus, as I travelled UNSUPERVISED!

Below is my story. I would be leaving out names, as the individuals involved may also be victims of a failed system just as much as I was. Also, for want of space, I would be leaving out core medical details, like examination and investigation findings.

___________________________________________

📝 THE EXPOSURE

Patient zero presented to the hospital where I work, at about 4pm, on Friday, the 12th of January 2018. She had been on admission in a clinic some 10km away.

She presented as a known RVD on HAART with complaints of Fever [even though on presentation, temperature was normal: 36.7°C], cough with occasional blood-stained sputum [hemoptysis], pleuritic chest pain, oral sores, joint pains, all of 4 days duration; irrational talk, that progressed rapidly to an altered level of consciousness, of 3 days duration; and jaundice [yellowness of the eyes], passage of coke-colored urine, and slight abdominal swelling, of a day duration. No leg swelling, nor swelling around the eyes.

After reviewing the systems, and carrying out a full examination, which included a VE [!]; I noticed a nose bleed, which the relatives claimed was the first incident of such. Based on the findings, I made an assessment of "Multi Organ Failure, query cause." This means that her organs were already failing-- that much I knew; but I was not yet sure what was the cause. Hence the "query cause." My list of possiblities, however, included:

 1. Pneumonic Sepsis [for obvious reasons]

 2. Acute Fulminant Hepatitis [because of the quartet of jaundice, encephalopathy, coagulopathy, and abdominal distention]

 3. SLE [making a case for this here is beyond the scope of this write up]

 4. And finally, Viral Hemorrhagic Fever, in this instance Lassa Fever [this was only included for the sake of completion, because at this point, I honestly wasn't thinking of Lassa Fever].

The plan was to resuscitate, and refer-- a decision I would later regret.

___________________________________________

📝 IF IT LOOKS LIKE LASSA, IT'S SAFER TO ASSUME IT'S LASSA

After initial resuscitation, she started making adequate urine, the level of consciousness improved, and the acidotic breathing resolved.  I wrote them a referral, but they said they had ran out of cash as a result of the four days they spent in the CHEW-manned clinic they were referred from. And since it was already weekend, they couldn't withdraw. This meant that they couldn't afford to transport her to a new Hospital, and start paying for a new card, admission deposits, and all what not. Neither could they settle the bills they had incurred in our Hospital.

So, we were stuck with her for the weekend, and had no option but to continue life-sustaining treatment.

Unfortunately, by Monday, she deteriorated again, and started bleeding from multiple sites, including the nostrils, mouth, vagina, and into the skin.

A liver function test we did over the weekend had ruled out Acute Fulminant Hepatitis. Also, an on-the-phone review of the case with a Senior Registrar in Rheumatology ruled out SLE, despite the striking similarities. So, we were left with Sepsis [+DIC], and Viral Hemorrhagic Fever!

By the time news filtered in that someone had died from a suspected case of VHF in her locality, Lassa Fever was looking more and more probable, even though I still made "Sepsis with DIC" my first choice diagnosis.

📝 ATTEMPTS AT CONTROLLING AN OUTBREAK FROM THE SUSPECTED CASE

At this point, everyone was yelling "discharge and refer," but I couldn't, for the following reasons:

 1. This people didn't have money. So, if I referred them at that point, they were definitely going home. And that would mean exposing everyone around them: the family, relatives, and friends, who'd come visiting!

 2.  If they found money, by whatever stroke of luck [oh, I forgot to mention that they had lied about having money in the bank] , and went to a new Hospital, that would mean exposing another set of doctors, and nurses!

The best way to prevent these two scenarios, I reckoned, was to keep her [since we were already exposed anyway], and then inform the authorities. They would know exactly what to do, and how to do it, without risking other lives. STUPID ME!

While we were waiting for that, I put the following measures in place:

 1. I had the woman transferred to an isolation ward. Thankfully, throughout her admission, she'd been alone in the particular ward section she was admitted in before we started suspecting VHF.

 2. We stopped admitting new patients into the ward she was admitted before.

 3. The two relatives taking care of her were advised to be using hand gloves, and face masks; and also not to leave the hospital premises.

 4.  No visitors were allowed into her isolation room.

 5. I saw to it that provision for hand washing, under running water, was made at the entrance to her room. The water was always fortified with Jik.

6. We minimized care to the essentials: changing her drip, and administering her IV drugs. No more taking of vital signs, changing of beddings, doing reviews, and all what not.

7. Any staff who MUST GO IN, must do so with elbow length gloves, and face mask, and try as much as possible to minimize contact.

8. All the vital signs equipments used on the patient were marked as potentially hazardous, not to be used on other patients, at least until we become sure of what we are dealing with.

.

The plan was to do this for few hours, at most a day, as we were expecting the authorities to sweep in, and take the huge burden of KEEPING HER ALIVE off our shoulders.

📝 INFORMING THE AUTHORITIES, AND THEIR LACKADAISICAL RESPONSE

The authorities were promptly notified IMMEDIATELY we started suspecting Viral Hemorrhagic Fever [VHF]. The Department of Public Health, of the state's Ministry of Health, was duly notified, and they promised to send a "team."

The first day passed; no show. On the second day, they sent a DSNO [Disease Surveillance Notification Officer]. So much for sending a "team!"

The woman who came was less equipped than we were. She came with NOTHING, but her hand bag, pen, and a form to fill. We lent her the gloves and face mask she wore when she went to the isolation ward to see the patient. And oh, by "seeing" I meant sightseeing on aproko levels!

When we came out, she said she was asked to get a blood sample to be sent to Lassa Fever Centre, Irrua, for screening. Yet she didn't come with any PPE! Heck she didn't even come with a sample container, vacutainer, or tourniquet. What am I even saying; weren't we the ones who gave her the gloves she wore for "sightseeing?"

Because it was my life, and that of the staff I work with, on the line, I gritted my teeth, gloved up, and went to collect a sample from the patient, risking further exposure. But we had to know if it was Lassa fever, didn't we? And that was the only way.

When I was done collecting the sample, we realized she hadn't made arrangements on how to preserve it while transporting it. So, we got a Giostyle coolbox, and ice packs, from our immunization department, and gave it to her.

The Ribavirin we were expecting from them? Lol! It was obvious we were better off sweeping the Sahara!

.

The Department of Public Health called again, and said I should put the patient in an Ambulance, and transport him to the Teaching Hospital , some 118 Kilometers away! I cringed at the shamelessness, and audacity of that request.

They promised me a "team," but instead sent someone that spelt jaundice as "joindis." I was expecting PPE, instead I lent their staff  gloves. And where I was expecting Ribavirin, they brought nothing, never mind I was doing their job for them, cracking my head on how to contain an epidemic! And they still had the audacity to make another request of me? And with absolutely no shame? I was livid with rage.

Pettiness aside, how do they expect us to transport the patient, without exposing more people, the driver of the ambulance inclusive? What about the logistics of the travel; who's going to cater to that?

They later called back, and said they'd send a "team" to come and take her that evening.

We waited, and waited, but saw no one.

📝 DEATH OF "PATIENT ZERO, " AND CONTINUED NONCHALANCE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT

The following morning, the patient was still in a bad shape. We had transfused [yes, STUPID ME; I was still trying to save her life] with fresh whole blood, to correct the Thrombocytopenia shown in the FBC, and she was no longer bleeding. But she was still in a terrible condition.

We waited for the team that was promised to come and take her, but saw no one. A little after midday, about 72 hours after the Public Health department had been notified; she gave up the ghost.

I called the PH department again, to inform them of the development, and to remind them that the corpse needed to be disposed professionally, to avoid putting others at risk. They said I should get a body bag, put the patient in it, make sure the patient is buried ASAP, and what more, that I should supervise the burial. Yes; they actually said all that!

Question is, since when did it become the duty of a doctor to supervise the burial of a corpse suspected to be contaminated with a highly virulent virus such as Lassa Fever? Even if it was my duty, is it not meant to be done with the "undertakers" wearing PPEs, and someone following them, decontaminating the environment as they go? So, where was I meant to get PPEs, the whatever they use in decontamination, and the damned body bag?

Clearly, not just were this people running from their responsibilities, they also don't know what their responsibility is!

When I asked about the sample I risked my life to collect the previous day, they said they were yet to send it to Irrua; that they planned on doing so the following day!

📝 BETRAYAL FROM THE RELATIVES

The relatives refused to pay Hospital bills. This was particularly painful, because this was a woman we all risked our lives for, and continued attending to until her death, even when we thought it might be a case of Lassa Fever! Not just that, I had paid for the investigations, blood transfusion, IV fluids, and IV antibiotics [all totalling about 15k] with my own money. So what they were asked to pay was just for bed space, and the other services. And yet, they refused to pay a dime.

Because of the circumstances surrounding the case, we had to let them go. So the Hospital ended up with the lives of its staff on the line, and still had nothing to show for it. That's what you get for trying to do good IN NIGERIA!

📝  A WEIRD COINCIDENCE: THE SCARE

While all these were happening, I was never really scared, because, even though it was a strong differential, I wasn't really convinced it was Lassa Fever. I can't go into details about why I didn't think it was Lassa; it would be beyond the scope of this write up.

However, 2 days after patient zero's death, I suddenly developed fever, vomiting, diarrhea, malaise, headache, and sore throat.  And for the first time, I was really scared to the marrow [details of this can be seen in an earlier post I made on this issue, titled "From Scare To Nightmare"].

I placed myself on ORS, Zinc, and antiemetics; and then called my friends, and colleagues to inform them. My plan had been to continue with the conservative management, and source for oral Ribavirin myself, while waiting for patient zero's results; but after consulting my friends, the unanimous decision was for me to start going to Lassa Fever centre, Irrua, for admission, and outright commencement of treatment. They wouldn't have me take chances.

And that was how the wild goose chase started. I hurriedly packed my things, had someone withdraw a huge sum of money for me, informed and took permission from the Hospital's administrator; and in 2 hours, I was on the road in the Hospital's ambulance, sick, tired, confused, as a thousand and one thoughts were racing through my head.

___________________________________________

📝  REJECTED BY THE TEACHING HOSPITAL

Before I left, I had contacted the Public Health department again, to let them in on the new development, and the fact that we should seriously start making plans of tracing other people that patient zero may have contacted, and exposed unknowingly. Stupid me! But that's how I am wired; I am never really the type who looks out for himself alone.

The Department of Public Health gave me a contact to call in the Teaching Hospital, and convinced me not to embark on a 9 hour journey to Irrua, since I was sick and unstable, and they have an infection control unit in the Teaching Hospital that is well equipped to handle the case. I called the contact, and he said that they've been informed, and that they are READY and waiting for me. By being "ready," they meant Ribavirin, PPEs, and all that. So, I took a detour, and embarked on a 2 hour journey to the Teaching Hospital instead.

When I got there, I got a cold reception. I was kept in the ambulance for 2 hours, from 6.30pm to around 8.45pm, on the pretext that they were "looking for the keys to the isolation ward." I was left out there unattended to, sick, tired from a long journey, and apprehensive. My friends were calling, yelling that I should leave and start going to Irrua. But I reasoned it was already late, and I didn't want to take that risk.

At around 9pm, they finally "found the keys," and I was taken to an isolation ward, in a huge deserted complex.

After one hour of waiting, and of having the clinical staff peer at me through the window, like I was some alien; someone fully kitted with a PPE, came in to see me.

After asking a few questions, he told me outrightly that I was on my own. That the PPE he was wearing was the last in the hospital, and that no one would agree to touch me without it.  He went further to say that as it stood then, neither him, nor the hospital, was "officially aware" that I was in there. Talk about "plausible deniability!"

I was shocked to the marrow. The irony of it--  the fact that I risked my own life to take care of someone I didn't know, who wasn't even from the same state as me, without PPEs, and in a Community Hospital, in a remote village! And right there were people, who were meant to be my professional colleagues, my "Hippocratic" and "Nightingalean" brethren, working in a tertiary institution-- supposedly the most equipped hospital in the state, and yet they couldn't do same for me.

I wasn't mad at them though, as I realized that they were as much victims of a shitty system, as I was; for in their eyes, I saw pity, empathy, and shame. Perhaps if they had PPEs they would have done something. Perhaps not. Truth is, we'll never know.

" Okay," I said; "now that you're still wearing PPE, can you at least help me site an IV line, and put me on IV fluids?"

No, can't do; you're not on admission, and like I said, the hospital is not "aware" you're here.

" What of Ribvirin; can I get it and start treating myself?"

No, we can't give you that; we can't give you drugs without a definitive diagnosis.

"Excuse me? You're saying that in the setting of a potentially life-threatening ailment, you'd rather wait for a confirmatory diagnosis that may take days, possibly risking the patient's life, instead of starting life-saving treatment?"

And he said something I considered condescending about the drugs having numerous side effects.

I scoffed. Drug side effects my foot! As if we were not taught about what to do when benefits outweighs risk in medical school.

At this point, there was no need engaging further; it was obvious this people were playing "political correctness" with my life.

Before they left, they said I should continue self-medicating with  the ORS  and Zinc, that I CAME WITH, to stay hydrated;  and that I should be monitoring MY OWN vital signs, and let them know if "something" happens. Right; like if I enter into shock, my ghost would pick up my phone and start making calls, abi?

That was how I was left ALONE in a vast one storey complex, sick, with a thousand thoughts running through my head.

At around 11pm, I decided it was best to check myself out, and go to find a hotel, spend the night, and then continue my journey to Irrua the following day. And no, I didn't care if I was going to be putting the hotel staff at risk; whatever selflessness, and misguided sense of patriotism, I had died in that Hospital where I was left to my fate. If their government didn't care enough to protect them, even when I had tried to make it easier for them, why should I care? Besides, if I was dying, I would rather spend the remaining of my days in luxury, and comfort, and not  in a deserted building where my only companions would be my thoughts, and the elements.

Old habits die hard. As I went to that hotel room, I still went with Dettol, and Jik, and made sure I was washing my hands regularly, to minimize the risk of putting anyone at risk. Lol. Stupid me.

📝 FENDING FOR MYSELF: TRIP TO IRRUA

The following morning, we set out for Irrua as early as 6.30 am. It was a long journey that took about 9 hours.

Through out the journey, I was receiving calls, and prayers, from friends, family, and well wishers. They made me feel loved; they made me feel there was good in humanity after all; and that whatever I had done was well worth it.

We arrived at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital at exactly 3.30pm. The first thing I did was to report myself to the Lassa Fever Centre, and have them look for patient Zero's result. It happened that they hadn't even started running the sample, as they were overwhelmed with samples from all over the country.

However, they were humane enough to understand my predicament, and the urgency it required. So, they made it a priority, and included it in the next batch of  samples to be run.

___________________________________________

📝 THE LONG WAIT

I waited for long for that result. At a point, it was obvious that it was going to be a long wait, so I went and booked myself a hotel room. A consultant in the centre had earlier advised that it may be imprudent to admit me at that time, risking further exposure. Since I was no longer having diarrhea, vomiting, and fever,AT THAT TIME, he said we should wait for the results of patient zero first.

By 10pm, I was still seated outside the lab, waiting. Finally, the door opened, and they told me that they had made a mistake while running the sample, and would have to redo the test. Exhausted and drained, both emotionally and physically, I decided I couldn't wait any longer. So, I went to my hotel room, switched off my phones, and dozed off.

__________________________________________

📝 A HAPPY ENDING

The following morning, at around 7.30 am, the lab called me: patient zero's result was negative. And I heaved a sigh of relief. The first thing I did was to call my friends, and family-- beautiful set of people, who had  been more worried than I was, and tell them that the battle was over.

On my way back home, I got sick again. So, when I got home, I ran some tests, and it happened what I had was Sepsis, and Malaria with a very high parasite density.

I'm on drugs now, and recuperating fine. And yes, I'm also on sick leave, even though I've been reviewing cases brought to me by my junior colleague on my sick bed 😜. Yea, they can't take that away from me: love for what I do!

.

It feels like I have been given a second chance. A chance, not just to live, but also to see more clearly, and realize that this country isn't worth it. Oh well, let's just get well first .....

📝 DISCLAIMER

I deliberately left out the name of any state on this write up, so "Ministry of Health," "Department of Public Health," and "Teaching Hospital," as used here, could be that of any of the 36 states. This was deliberate, and was done so for legal reasons, in case anyone wants to get funny, as I don't have any evidence to prove all I've written here.

But we know every bit of information written here is the TRUTH, our truth; and we know where all these happened. Don't we?

Shhh, don't tell.

There you have it, people; your NIGERIA!

And you, the medics; just know this: YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!

Sokoto Caliphate Believe They Own Benue State

Prof. Umar Labdo Muhammad of the Faculty of Humanities, Northwest University, Kano claims that Benue State belongs to the Fulani by right of conquest.

In his words

“Benue State belongs to the Fulani people by right of conquest.

This is because half of the state is part of the Bauchi Emirate and the other half is part of the Adamawa Emirate.

Benue is therefore part and parcel of the Sokoto Caliphate. So no one has the right to expel the Fulani from Benue under any guise.

Second to the Arabs, perhaps the Fulani are the most benevolent and merciful conquerors in history.

If they had applied the Nazi final solution to the natives, or if they had treated them the same way the European settlers treated Red Indians in North America or the Aborigines in Australia, the story would have been different today.”

Benue people Deride IGP On Arrival To Markurdi

What Benue indigenes told Police IG to his face

HRM ZAKI PROF JAMES AYATSE ( Tor Tiv 5th):
I want to welcome you to our state. On the controversy about your stop over at Nasarawa, I want to believe that your stop over was to commune with the Tiv people over there.

I am happy you deployed troops to Benue but we are keenly waiting to see the nature of instructions that will be handed to the troops.

Benue people are not interested in self defence, we are law abiding. We are promising to cooperate with you, we will however wait to see your modus operandi. It’s not difficult to detect a genuine project.
Be informed that in our silence we also have a God that can rise up and defend us.

Chief Edward Ujege:
Mr IGP sir, until you explain what you meant by “Communal clashes” we are not going to trust you. And these questions have occupied our hearts since your arrival to the state.

Do you have a heart to fight these people?
Are you not compromised already?

Help us convey these words to the president, while insurgency erupted in the east the president ordered for a special military unit called Operation Python Dance. We also demand for a special military operation in Benue. I may be speaking rubbish but it’s because the person who seems to be our shield has abandoned us.

Hon Mrs Apedzan:
Mr IGP, the women have asked me to demand an unreserved apology from you for referring to Benue state attacks as a communal clash. May I bring to your notice that the people killing us are not hoodlums, they are Fulanis, we know the real Fulanis who are staying at Abuja and other big cities in Nigeria, these ones are just spies. Six Fulanis are currently standing trial in the state, the people killing us are Fulanis.

How could Audu Ogbeh have suggested he is creating colonies. We say no. The answer is ranching.

In Audu’s local government, a catholic priest was killed by the Fulani militia
Tell Mr President, there would be no going back on the issue of Ranching

TERRENCE KUANAM:
“Sir your coming to the State is an insult on our sensibility, your DIG said on the television that the terrain is complex to the Nigerian police, are you now coming to clear the terrain? What we need here is a military presence, we don’t need you here. Audu Ogbeh is not representing us, he is representing his family.

PROF DANIEL SAROR:
“I have been to those affected areas, these people are not looking for grass to feed their cattle, their mandate is to kill and take over. If they were looking for grass they won’t carry arms with Islamic inscriptions on them.

Sir don’t let us be fooled into thinking that you are here to protect us, the federal government should also join us in creating ranches all over Nigeria. Colonies and grazing reserves won’t work. Creation of grazing reserve is an evil plan. How do we sleep with people carrying sophisticated arms? Ranching is the only way out for us. Sir, the president sent you to Benue and you couldn’t drive straight, you had to stop over at Nasarawa state? We have lost confidence in your ability to protect us”

JUSTICE UTSAHA:
Just yesterday, my village was attacked, my house was burnt down. Permit me to speak on the word integrity.
When you were to be appointed, so many senior ranking officers were sacked on the believe that you have integrity, do we believe on this or we should say all that glitters is not gold? We voted overwhelmingly for Mr President, is he saying all that glitters is not gold?
Is it an offence that we have refused to hit back?

Tell Mr President that his integrity is in question. Inform Mr President that by 2019 we are going to vote against him overwhelmingly.

CHIEF ADANYI:
I want to start by asking this question, is the Governor of Nasarawa state a friend or a foe? Nasarawa state has become a camping ground for our enemies, Commissioner of Police Nasarawa state, what have you been doing?

IGP sir, are you here to ridicule us, if not you must arrest all the culprits before you leave.

Even yesterday, the leader of Miyetti Allah said on the television that our anti grazing law in Benue is impracticable. Now that you are here, go to these affected areas and see things for yourself.

Last year when Agatu was affected and the Fulanis ran to Nasarawa state, the Benue state assembly member from Agatu reported to your office, (then you were Commissioner from Nasarawa state.) you said until you received information from the headquarters, today you are in the headquarters. IGP, in clear terms, you are not doing enough.

JOSEPHINE HABBA:
“Sir, if the Nigerian Police can not protect us, we will exercise our constitutional right by defending ourselves. Tell Mr President that since he can not come to Benue to sympathize with us, he should forget the idea of coming here for campaigns by 2019”

REV FR SOLOMON MFA:
“First I want to appreciate the president for sending you to Benue. I have been a priest in the most affected local government for 13 years, I have also been severally attacked myself. The president has made several intelligent appointments but who are those heading the security agencies, (the Fulanis ). When Yusuf Buhari, son to our president had an accident, our president was devastated, here in Benue our ‘Yusufs’ have been slaughtered.”

Jose Mourinho Dotes on Didier Drogba:

Jose Mourinho on Didier Drogba:
"Didier Drogba came into my life in the fifth minute of a Champions League game in Marseille’s mythical Vélodrome. I’d hardly sat down when that giant with the 11 on his shirt scored. He celebrated that goal like it was his last, the crowd went mad, the noise was deafening."
"At half-time I found him in the tunnel and told him: ‘I don’t have the money to buy you, but do you have any cousins that can play like you in the Ivory Coast?’ He laughed, hugged me and said: ‘One day you’ll be in a club which can buy me.’"
"Six months later I signed for Chelsea. I had found a super powerful club which everybody wanted to negotiate with, everybody wanted to be linked to – and everybody wanted to play for.
"I had a number of options, but I arrived and said: ‘I want Didier Drogba.’ Doubts and questions were raised by a few people: ‘Why this one?’, ‘Why not that one?’, ‘Are you sure he will adapt?’, ‘Is he really that good?’
‘I want Didier Drogba,’ I said."
"A few days passed and I met with Didier in a private airport in London. Again he hugged me, but this time in an unforgettable way: an embrace that showed this man’s gratitude, and the affection he feels towards people who mean a lot to him. Indescribable."
"Then he told me: ‘Thank you. I will fight for you. You won’t regret it. I will stay loyal to you forever.’
And that’s just what he’s done…"
"His loyalty came out in his leadership and in the way he always faced up to the difficult moments. Moments when nothing else matters than to be there for your leader and your colleagues. This was a person I knew I could count on whenever and wherever I needed."
"When the team was under pressure he would help defend; when he felt pain he would stretch himself to the limit and then of course came what he did best: scoring goals.
Those goals brought him titles & awards, but what stays with me are the countless stories we have together."
"The FA Cup final at the new Wembley, 2007 - Man United.
The last game of the season. A lot of people thought this would be my last game at Chelsea. It was a great battle, then Didier scored in ET. The final whistle blew & everybody went mad – apart from two calm individuals.."
"I ran into the dressing room to call my wife. One player avoided the immediate celebrations and followed me down the tunnel. It was Didier, chasing me for a hug..
The game was over but in his mind as he left the pitch was only one thing: to hug me as soon as possible. Was he remembering our first encounter? Our second? Or was he thinking that this embrace could be the last…? He found me, we hugged and we cried."
"Didier is a special person. And I repeat: person. I could say player of course but above all, his impact on the world at the moment is as a person: as an African, as an emperor of the Ivory Coast, as a father, as a son and as a friend. It's a privilege to have him in my life."
"Months after the Cup final I was out of Chelsea. As on the first day, there came that same embrace. I couldn’t speak and Didier could only say: ‘This is not possible, this is not possible, this is not happening.’ I could only find the strength to turn and walk away."
"Didier is in my life as one of the best players I have managed in my career. But much more importantly, he’s in my life as one of the best and most unforgettable friends."
"Together, the two of us side by side, fighting for the same thing? Far away? In different clubs? In different countries? Or old, with Didier in retirement and me coaching in a wheelchair? It doesn’t matter…
Didier. Always near to my heart.
José Mourinho"

How Kidnappers And Robber Get Victims To Sleep

Wow, this is scary. Read and pass it on. We need to keep our girls safe. But it's applicable to all and sundry.

People are *really* crazy!  If you are a girl or woman, take heed! If you  are male and have a significant female in your  life who you care about, whether it's your wife, your  girlfriend, your daughter, your sister, your niece,  your cousin, your next door neighbour, your friend, etc., pass this  along!    *Always, it's better to be safe than sorry!*

A man came over and offered his services as a painter to a female who's buying fuel in a petrol station. She said "No" but accepted his business  card out of courtesy. She then got in her car and drove off.

The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the station, she saw that the men left the station at the same time as she did. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could hardly breathe. She tried to open the car window and realized that the odour was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the would-be painter. She then noticed the  men's car was  immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do  something at that moment. She drove into the first petrol station she came across and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the  lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes. Finally, she was able to breathe normally again.

Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her.
This drug is called *burundaga*, and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them. This drug is four times more dangerous than the so-called date rape drug, and it is transferable on simple cards.

So take heed and make sure you don’t accept cards  anytime you are alone or from someone on the streets.  This rule also applies in your compound too. If you're alone in the house, don't accept  business cards, especially from strangers or people offering their services. May God keep us all.

*Please send this to all your contact, don't say later . Burundaga is a  dangerous Drug use by kidnappers  globally and its infinite particle size can be deadly indeed.
Check Burundaga on Google if you have any doubt on this pls.

The Old Got To Their Age Through Wisdom

AN OLD WOMAN WALKED UP AND TIED HER OLD MULE TO THE HITCHING POST.
AS SHE STOOD THERE, BRUSHING SOME OF THE DUST FROM HER FACE AND CLOTHES, A YOUNG GUNSLINGER STEPPED OUT OF THE SALOON WITH A GUN IN ONE HAND AND A BOTTLE OF WHISKEY IN THE OTHER. THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER LOOKED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND LAUGHED, "HEY OLD WOMAN, HAVE YOU EVER DANCED?"

THE OLD WOMAN LOOKED UP AT THE GUNSLINGER AND SAID, "NO,... I NEVER DID DANCE... NEVER REALLY WANTED TO."

A CROWD HAD GATHERED AS THE GUNSLINGER GRINNED AND SAID "WELL, YOU OLD BAG, YOU'RE GONNA DANCE NOW," AND STARTED SHOOTING AT THE OLD WOMAN'S FEET.

THE OLD WOMAN PROSPECTOR -- NOT WANTING TO GET HER TOE BLOWN OFF --STARTED HOPPING AROUND. EVERYBODY WAS LAUGHING. WHEN HIS LAST BULLET HAD BEEN FIRED, THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER, STILL LAUGHING, HOLSTERED HIS GUN AND TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK INTO THE SALOON.

THE OLD WOMAN TURNED TO HER PACK MULE, PULLED OUT A DOUBLE-BARRELED SHOTGUN, AND COCKED BOTH HAMMERS.
THE LOUD CLICKS CARRIED CLEARLY THROUGH THE DESERT AIR, AND THE CROWD STOPPED LAUGHING IMMEDIATELY.

THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER HEARD THE SOUNDS, TOO, AND HE TURNED AROUND VERY SLOWLY. THE SILENCE WAS ALMOST DEAFENING. THE CROWD WATCHED AS THE YOUNG GUNMAN STARED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND THE LARGE GAPING HOLES OF THOSE TWIN BARRELS.

THE BARRELS OF THE SHOTGUN NEVER WAVERED IN THE OLD WOMAN'S HANDS, AS SHE QUIETLY SAID, "SON, HAVE YOU EVER KISSED A MULE'S ASS?"

THE GUNSLINGER SWALLOWED HARD AND SAID, "NO M'AM... BUT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO.

THERE ARE FIVE LESSONS HERE FOR ALL OF US:

1 - Never be arrogant.
2 - Don't waste ammunition.
3 - Whiskey makes you think you're smarter than you are.
4 - Always make sure you know who has the power.
5 - Don't mess with old people; they didn't get old by being stupid.

Nigerian Parents Protest Homework Fraud in Private Schools

FRAUD BY NIGERIAN PRIVATE SCHOOLS
HOMEWORK! HOMEWORK! AND MORE HOMEWORK FOR PARENTS.
It has become clear to many parents that the task of teaching their children has been shifted to them despite the huge fees they keep doling out to private schools.
Children come home with homework that requires over 6 hours to complete and the children are usually clueless about the topic. Clearly some of these topics were never introduced in class and the burden of breaking in the topic is shifted to the parents. In some cases a topic is given a very brief introduction in class then  a slew of tasks is bundled as assignments and becomes the parent's responsibility to ground the child in the subject.
Nigerian parents remain docile. They know they are being shafted but continue to take it.
Some schools try to drive the narrative that all other kids are up to par and only yours is finding it difficult. Bull! The teachers are trained to sell you that line (the only training they seem to receive). This belief gives every parent a catch-up mentality. So you either enroll in their "extra lessons " or you find yourself doing homework for your children everyday.
This phenomenon (fraud)  was prevalent in China until parents got together and fought against it.
After paying exorbitant school fees, the schools pay peanuts to the teachers.  Some private school teachers in Nigeria consider themselves unemployed because their remuneration is so small!
They can't be bothered to be dedicated. Besides many just simply are untrained.
The private schools have found a solution: transfer the teaching tasks to the parents!

Parents must individually reject this fraud!
Insist on only one assignment per subject per week. If the schools won't comply then we must refuse to pay school fees this January!
Insist that teaching must be in the classroom! Not through 'extra lessons '!

It is a big lie that every other child except yours is doing well! They only exploit your competitive spirit!

Enough is enough! Teach our children or we will not pay the school fees!  If we are doing all the work we might as well enroll them in the LEA public schools!

Positive Gains Of Restructured Nigeria

POSITIVE THINGS RESTRUCTURING NIGERIA WILL BRING! - FOREIGN DIPLOMAT REVEALS

If Nigeria restructured into provinces -
1) Northern Province
2) Middle Belt Province
3) Oduduwa Province
4) Eastern Province
5) Niger Delta Province (Atlantic)
Then Central Government at FCT.

10 positive things that would happen within 5 years
(primarily due to inter-province competition)

1. The first province to experience economic explosion would obviously be the Western Province. The Oduduwua Master plan will be revealed. There would be trans-regional 4g internet fiber connection/rail/subways/highways/power grids etc. Yoruba will become the 2nd official language. They are relatively united. They have oil. They own academia. They have mega corporations. The WP would be the first to have stable 24/7 power supply! Foreign money will flood the province. More Forbes recognized billionaires will arise. Some of them will be internet billionaires. Lagos will be relieved a little from overpopulation as railway lines from other states will make living elsewhere and working in Lagos a breeze.

2. The Northern Province will have stronger islamic laws. Sharia will be entrenched and this will make the NP become the least corrupt province. The middle east (Arab) nations will move in to partner with them, bringing major development. Jaiz bank and Unity Bank will become mega banks. Arabic and Hausa will compete with English for dominance in schools. This province will generate more solar power than any other province. After the west, this province will be the 2nd to have 24/7 electricity. They will start exporting food as a major revenue generator.

3. The Middle Belt Province will have a development conference. Focus will be given to solid minerals development/
exports, tourism development and food production/exports. This will become a food hub in West Africa. They will export more food than any other province. Mega mining and food corporations will arise. This province will have foreign inflows through tourism development greater than any other province. It will host the most beautiful places to live in Nigeria.

4. The Eastern Province will transform into the Auto Industry Hub of Africa. Indigenous manufacturing of vehicles that will start competing with foreign vehicles will commence in earnest. This will grow to manufacturing of airplanes, helicopters, tractors, cranes, heavy duty construction equipment etc. Forbes recognised billionaires living in Anambra will arise. The Biafra agitation will fizzle out since formation of the EP will be seen as a Biafra success in another form. There would be so much development that villages (as we currently know them) will quickly cease to exist. This province will be the first to semi-urbanize all their rural areas as all the Igbos living abroad will rush back to take advantage of the changes.

5. The Atlantic Province will take the Uyo blueprint and run with it. An abundance of oil wealth and opening up of major sea ports at Rivers and Uyo will enable this region to revamp their infrastructure quickly. There will be more monorails here than anywhere else. This will be the 3rd province to achieve 24/7 electricity generation in Nigeria (mainly from gas turbine technology).

6. With provincial indigenous security forces in control, kidnapping, Armed robbery, Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and the Niger delta militancy attacks will all fizzle out. Nigeria will become the most secure and peaceful African nation; thus attracting more foreigners.

7. Each Province will have their own airline professionally managed. And with better roads/rail, air and land transport costs will crash.

8. With the rapid development occurring all over, Nigerias GDP will shoot up. Obtaining visas to travel out will become easy as more people will want to come in than go out. A worldwide immigration into Nigeria will commence, as Nigerians living abroad will be struggling with foreigners to enter the country. ''Nigeria will become the most desirable Nation to live in".

9. The central government at the FCT will become smaller and less powerful. There will be a mini-exodus from Abuja to the provinces as the action is now elsewhere. The outskirts of Abuja will no longer be heavily overpopulated. Abuja will become awesome again.

10. The 10th positive thing that would quickly happen positive idea.

Pls share for the sensitization of the benefits of Restructuring.

Nigeria must flourish again.🇳🇬

How IBB Canceled June 12 Election To Save His Neck

*EX PRESIDENT, IBRAHIM BABANGIDA OPENED UP ON JUNE 12 ANNULMENT*
Copied:
They will kill me; they will kill the President Elect, Chief MKO Abiola if I went ahead with the election and announced the winner of the elections which we all know to be Bashorun, Chief MKO Abiola. I know so; I am not daft. He won; he tried. I feel bad about the whole matter. Professor, I do not see how they will spare you because they know you are my principal confidant. You think they do not know you? They know; they know you are with me now. They saw you coming in and they know you are with me now I cannot kill myself for the sake of what the country wants. I am sorry, he lamented. It was astonishing to hear a General state that he could not lay down his life for his country.

It was clear that General Babangida was in a fix as of June 21st 1993. I then proceeded to deal with the questions of who were these “they” and for what reasons would they want to kill the President and the President Elect if the June 12 election were allowed to go forward. He named them in military and in ethnic categories:

Sani (meaning General Sani Abacha) is opposed to a return to civilian rule. Sani cannot stand the idea of Chief Abiola, a Yoruba becoming his Commander- in- Chief; Sani seems to have the ears of the Norhern leaders that no Southerner especially from the South West should become the President of the country. Sani seems to rally the Northern elders to confront me on the matter. He is winning; the Sultan and the Northern leaders are of this frame of mind.

Where do I go from here? They do not trust me. Without Sani, I will not be alive today; without the North, I would not have become an officer in the Nigerian Army and now the President of Nigeria I don’t want to appear ungrateful to Sani; he may not be bright upstairs but he knows how to overthrow governments and overpower coup plotters. He saw to my coming to office in 1985 and to my protection in the many coups I faced in the past, especially the Orkar coup of 1990 where he saved me and my family including my infant daughter.”

Sani risked his life to get me into office in 1983 and 1985; if he says he does not want Chief Abiola, I will not force Chief Abiola on him. He also named Lt General Dongoyaro and Brigadier General David Mark as those who were against Chief Abiola. In fact, he quoted David Mark as saying: I’d shoot Chief Abiola the day NEC( National Electoral Commission) pronounces him the elected President!

SOURCE:THE TALE OF JUNE 12: THE BETRAYAL OF THE DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS OF NIGERIANS BY PROFESSOR OMO OMORUYI.

Hmmmm!!! Same David Mark went to Senate and became Senate President in a democracy that MKO Abiola died for.

What A Man/Huaband Needs Most From A woman

HAT A HUSBAND NEEDS FROM A WIFE IS NEVER SEX.
Sex is an important element in marriage and until there is sexual intercourse between a husband and a wife, the marriage is not yet spiritually recognized. This shows how important sex is in marriage.
When you look at how aggressive men are towards sex you may think that what a man needs from a woman is sex. Of course, if he has not married you yet or he does not really intend to marry you what he will need from you is nothing above your body. But if he really intends to marry you or if you guys are already married sex is never what he needs from you - maybe let me say it better; "WHAT A MAN NEEDS MOST FROM A WOMAN IS NOT SEX."
Many young girls think because they are sexually active and experience they will easily be married and have their husbands loving them. And when a man approaches for marriage they think the greatest asset they have to show the man is sex. Others also think once they are giving out their bodies it means they are giving out the best for which reason they will be chosen above all.
There is this young girl who is very beautiful and sexually active. Due to that she thought sex is all that matters to a man. Ironically, she struggled for long before finally getting married. Her sexual dexterity could not win her the heart of a man until out of the blue and reason beyond imagination a very handsome good man married her. The wedding was grand and her tears were now gone. Unfortunately only a year after the wedding the marriage fell on rocks. Within five years three different men came her way but none could stay.
The problem was simple. She thought sex was all that matters so she would never submit. But submission is what men need, not sex. It is time for our young ladies to know that when a man is ready to marry he will not look out for a woman who will satisfy his sex drive but a woman who will submit herself to him. Excuse my language, "every woman has vagina but not every woman has humility." So when you are a humble woman, you are an expensive jewelry. And a man of integrity will fear to lose you.
What does the holy 📖say, "wife, submit to your husband." The reason is that a man's true love goes out only for a woman who is submissive. Your beauty cannot make another woman ugly but your humility can let him love you above all other women.
Sadly, many young ladies in our days call submission as "control." And you will hear them saying in tiny romantic voices, "As for me I don't want any man to control me oh." If you don't want to submit don't think of marriage because no man in his right sense will offer his love to a woman whose heart is higher than his height, no matter how short he may be.
When a woman bows her knee before a man, the man will automatically bow his heart before her love. And love her sincerely. There are, of course, recalcitrant men who will not value women of humility but I tell you that every true man does not need sex, but submission. It is submission that truly makes you a romantic wife. So be the QUEEN you want to be but when it comes to dealing with your husband, play the role of a humble maid. Don't forget that it is the spirit of humility that has caused many maids to hijack their mistresses' husbands. Be your man's queen and be his maid also.
I wish you all the best as you submit in your relationship and marriage. May God bless you with good marriage, my dear

How Times Change by Arnold Schwarzenegger

"HOW TIMES CHANGED"

The famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator), who later became Governor of the State of California, USA, posted a picture of himself sleeping in the street under his famous bronze statue, and wrote sadly ("How times changed").

The reason he slept there and wrote the sentence was not only odd to many but intriguing. Some thought he was a nut or in the usual joking mood as a famous actor, though rare.

Then a journalist took a bold step to approach him and ask why he was sleeping in the public glare when he could have afford all the comforts inside his home or better still in the hotel.

Do you know what he found out?

Arnold Schwarzenegger told him that he was not a nut neither too old to forget his senses and propriety. He was neither catching his fun, but rather making a statement of life.

He recalled that when he was the Governor of the State of California, he was invited to officially open the massive multimillion dollar hotel where his statue was placed in front of it in his honour.

He noted further that the hotel management publicly declared at the opening ceremony that "at any time you come back, you will meet a room reserved in your name that will be placed at your disposal free of charge."

He said he never came back while in office. However years later he recalled those promises after leaving office and decided to come back and spend a time in the hotel either for free or at paying cost. However what he discovered on arrival is that the hotel administration had refused to give him a room arguing that the hotel was fully booked, even when he was ready to pay. He therefore decided to place a cover under the statue and sleep.

REFLECTIONS
Arnold Schwarzenegger asked the reporter to send this message of reflection as a lesson to those in position of responsibility thus:

"When you are in a position, people may be  praising you. Don't let it get to your head or your heart. Be yourself and don't get carried away. Even if they mean to be true and sincere, check yourself that you have not exceeded your limits.

Be sure that you are doing what is right and what is good. Don't place any expectation on others and don't look away at your friends and family or make enemies for yourself. Let your door be open to everyone and open your mind to anyone making a point. They may be your guardian angels. No one knows it all.

Remember that your position is for a while. The people who surround you to seek your favour may even forget you sooner than you can remember. Those who spent time with you are no exception. You may be lonely someday. Even some of the people you helped may eventually loath you.

Remember, what you have to your name is your good works. The legacies that you left in the sands of time. That is what will speak for you. Do not assume that every word spoken to you in office will be kept as a promise in future.

Do not trust your position, name, power, money, fame or intelligence as a magic to open doors in future. Only trust in your good work and legacies because nothing last long in life but death.

Yes, times have changed."

Details of Elombah Abduction Saga By Daniel Elobah

I was abducted by SARS

My name is Daniel Elombah, a UK based lawyer and publisher.

On the 1st day of January 2018, men of the Federal Special Anti-Armed Robbery Squad, SARS, numbering about 15 and armed to the teeth stormed our family compound in Edoji Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra state.

The men who struck around 5:am on the new year day climbed over the gate with their ladder and ransacked the entire house. At the end of the operation, 6 adult male members of the family including myself were handcuffed, herded into a rickety bus and driven to the SARS Nnewi office where we were briefly detained.

No one explained to us the reason for our arrest thereby throwing the entire family including our aged mother, our wives and our little children into great distress. Our repeated requests for the reason  for our arrest was met with a terse, "you'll be told at the station".

From Nnewi we were driven to the SARS headquarters in Awkuzu, near Awka, again without being told the reason for our arrest.

At the SARS state headquarters we were handed over to a different set of four armed men who were later identified as officers from the Special Tactical Squad, STS, a crack team of operatives directly in the office of Nigeria's Inspector General Of Police.

Their team leader explained that the IGP personally ordered our arrest because my brother Tim Elombah, was accused of publishing an article on an online media, Elombah.com which article was allegedly aimed at blackmailing the IGP. We requested for details of the offending article but were told that we will be given the details in Abuja where we were headed shortly.  The STS team leader thereafter released 3 of my brothers who were told to find their way back home to Nnewi, while the 3 of us namely: myself, Tim and Izuchukwu Elombah were herded in handcuffs into another Bus after we were briefly interrogated.

At this point I repeatedly requested to be told the offence  for which I was arrested but was ignored. The allegation against Izuchukwu, a trader in Niger State was also not provided to us.

We left Anambra state and arrived at the STS Abuja office around 5:00pm.

My brother Tim who is also the editor-in-chief of the online news medium, Elombah.com was grilled for nearly three hours while I, and Izuchukwu were detained behind the Counter.

All of us were eventually interrogated separately for several hours. It thereafter emerged that my brother Tim was accused of publishing a defamatory article on a  website. The article titled "IGP Ibrahim Idris's Unending Baggage of Controversies" was published as an opinion piece on opinionnigeria.com, an online medium that was hitherto unknown to any us. Moreover the author of the said article was  one Ebiowei Dickson, again a very strange name to the three of us.

My brother, Tim repeatedly denied  writing the article which in any case was NOT published on Elombah.com. Tim also denied knowing the identity of Ebiowei Dickson.

Around midnight, my friend, Chief Obunike Ohaegbu who was a Federal Commissioner used his influence to secure my release and that of my brother Izuchukwu Elombah, but Tim Elombah remains in detention.

Let me emphasise that up till now the Police have not revealed to me and Izuchukwu our alleged offences. No one has informed me why I was abducted from my country home, handcuffed like a criminal and transported in a bus over a very bad road for 700 miles to Abuja. Izuchukwu was assaulted, slapped, punched and beaten. We were physically and psychologically tortured and traumatised! My mother's blood pressure shot through the roof and she is presently undergoing medical treatment. Our children were traumatised at the sight of gun totting hefty men that we initially mistook for armed robbers or kidnappers banging at our doors and waking up the entire household in the wee hours of the morning of the new year day. My movement is restricted and I'm not allowed to leave the country. That means that I and my family could not travel back to London as scheduled to enable our children resume schooling. The schools resumed on Wednesday 3rd January.

Dino Melaye Uncovers 2.2 Trillion Unremitted FGN fund

Read This Before You Buy Land In Lagos

The Taxify driver showed me a big black welt on his neck.

It ran around his neck.

Blueish black.

Swollen.

He told me that in October he had gone to a real estate agency on Allen Avenue to pay for six plots of land in Lekki EPZ zone.

Twenty four million plus naira inclusive of all charges.

It was the balance of the money he had saved during three years stay in Germany and had brought back with him.

He had imported five cars from Germany into Nigeria.

He gave his parents one. His wife the other. Sold two. And was driving one.

He had paid for two years rent for his house in Surulere and furnished it.

Bought a piece of land in his village in the East which he was still developing.

And hurriedly done the traditional and white wedding to his Igbo bride who had waited for him during his stay in Germany.

The purchasing of the land at the Lekki EPZ zone was a long term investment for him.

While in Germany he had got into a partnership with a manufacturing company and was going to build a factory on the land for the fabrication and assemblage of solar power equipments using their propietary technology.

He had inspected the land.

Met with the Baale and the Omo-oniles.

Got the C of O.

Took it to the local government and the land registration offices.

Met the officers he was directed to and their authenticity was confirmed.

Then he had in the first week of last month he had paid the money into the accounts of the real estate company and promptly on the advise of his wife, he had mobilised builders and gone to the land to fence it in order to ward away trespassers.

At the site as they began work, some of the Omo- Oniles who he had never seen had accosted them and an argument had ensued when they told them that the plots of land belonged to three other individuals collectively.

He protested and marched with them to the Baale to make his case.

On getting there, the Baale he saw was different from the Baale he had seen the first time he visited the palace.

Another bout of arguments that took hours, during which the other owners of the land were summoned.

They showed him their C of Os.

One owned two plots. One owned two plots and the last one owned three plots.

Not believing the authenticity of their documents they all went with him to the local government and land registration offices where he once again met different people from the ones he had met when he first came there.

The verdict.

His documents were fake. Theirs were genuine.

Beside himself in shock, he had driven to the real estate agent office on Allen Avenue.

It was closed.

The agency had packed up and left.

The guards at the bank next to the building told him that they had moved out at night.

The Taxify driver said that as he heard the words from the guards, he actually felt a dark cloud envelope him and a deep sadness seize him.

So deep he could barely breathe or think. He had never felt such sadness before. Never felt such sense of hopelessness.

He called the real estate agent.

It rang unaswered thrice.

And then it was switched off.

He tried repeatedly and got the same - The number you are trying to reach cannot be reached at the moment please try again later.

Each time he heard the message, he felt the grip of sorrow tighten around him.

And it was in its grip he had driven home that afternoon, his heart drumming in his ears.

The house was empty since his wife was at work.

He sat in the living room and stared at the television which was not turned on.

All he could see was himself working so hard in Germany to save the money he had just lost.

The questions rained on him.

How would he complete the house in the village? How would he raise the money for the factory? What will he tell his business partners in Germany who had already advanced him a credit facility and were sending him a shipment of the equipments he will need to set up the factory? What will he tell his Uncle who had collected a high interest loan on his behalf from his bank to finance the building of the factory itself? How would he take care of his new wife? How would he take care of his aged parents?

He said the more he thought the more he couldn't think.

And all he heard clearly and distinctly as though someone was talking to him were the words;

"There is no hope. No need to stress yourself again. End it all. Kill yourself. End your suffering. Your wife will remarry and move on. Your parents will survive and your sister will marry and take care of them. God understands. God knows you have tried. Go and rest in heaven. It is easier to die than live through this suffering. There is no way you can raise that money again. There is no way you can pay back the interest on the loan your uncle has collected even if you return the loan itself. Three months has already passed since he collected the loan for you. Didn't you already give him his cut? You see you don't even have the complete loan itself even if you return it. The bank will take whatever you return as the payment of the interest that has already incurred. Then the balance they would use as part of the loan itself. The rest of the loan will then accumulate interest for everyday you have not brought it in. How would you pay that one. How would you pay that interest talk more of the balance of the loan. You can't pay it. The bank will harass your uncle. They will take the house he used as collateral. Your Uncle will disturb your life. He will harass your parents. Why do you want to go through all that? If you die, he won't be able to disturb you or your wife or your parents. The germans will not be able to disturb them. Without you they can not do anything. You see, the solution is to disappear. Save your family. End it all. Kill yourself. Kill yourself. Kill yourself. Kill yourself. Kill yourself. Kill yourself."

He did not know when he took his belt, made a loop, tie the end without the buckle on the metal railing of the staircase that led to the upstairs bedroom of the duplex in which he lived. Pull up one of the dining room chairs close to the staircase, climb on it, put the loop around his neck.

He said a short prayer and begged God to forgive him and receive his soul.

Then he kicked the chair out from underneath his feet and his weight dropped making the loop tighten around his neck.

The suddenness shocked him.

And even without thinking he had his hands grabbing for the tight belt around his neck.

He tried to breathe.

With every draw of air the belt squeezed tighter.

His throat and his nostrils were on fire.

There was a ringing in his ear which grew louder with every passing second.

He felt his lungs catch fire and his windpipe begin to break.

His vision began to blur as darkness rushed towards him.

But he didn't see his life flash back as he had thought he would based on the stories he had heard.

Instead he felt an undescribable urge to survive.

To fight for his life.

He tried to grab hold of the railing behind him so that he could pull himself up and his feet could find a footing on the staircase but his hands couldn't find anything as it flaying around in confusion and alarm.

It was then he felt the saliva pulling in his mouth. It was like a river. It was rushing.

His strength was failing him. He could feel his mind telling his body to fight but he could feel the power fade out of his body and his hands and feet sagging towards the ground.

And as the darkness rushed over him, and he felt a terrible coldness seize him, the last conscious thought he had was that he had forgotten to write a note to his wife.

When he opened his eyes, later that day, the first thing he saw was the white ceiling of the clinic and the first thing he felt was the sweat on his face.

For a moment he was disoriented and couldn't remember who he was, where he was or why he was there.

Then he heard voices.

A lot of voices.

And in that din, he heard the voice of his wife. Shrill with fear as she asked a question.

"But how would you know if he has suffered any brain damage?"

The doctor responded.

"He has to wake up first before we know."

"God please o! You saved me from being a widow, don't punish me now with a husband in coma. I beg you my Father. King of mercy. Help your daughter in the name of your son Jesus!"

His wive's voice had a sing song to it when she prayed which usually made him laugh. It was as though she was singing while laughing and jumping up and down on the same spot.

"We are lucky the belt broke in time for him to start breathing on his own accord, if not, we won't even be having this conversation. You would have found him hanging in rigor mortis. I mean you found him lying there more than four hours after he fell. So madam be optimistic."

It was then he called out her name.

And the hospital room exploded in joy.

The week that followed was tough.

His wife after her joy had subsided was furious at him.

She accused him of not loving her at all. How could he have wanted to kill himself and leave her like that? He didn't even bother to leave a note? Was money more important than her? It was this and it was that all through the hours of the day as he tried to placate her while recovering his strength.

His parents and his younger sister journeyed down from the East and joined in the angry outburst.

How could he do that? Did he want the church to blacklist them? The Umunna would ostracise them? No one will marry his sister? There will be no one to take care of them? He was very selfish to have thought only of himself? He didn't even bother to leave behind a male child to carry the family name? It rained down on him like a storm.

And all he could say was a remorseful sorry.

But it was the doctor who intervened and urged them to sheath their swords, before he told them that the real estate agent could be caught.

He knew someone at Lion building in Lagos Island who had experience with matters like that and who was an expert in recovering stolen funds.

His parents insisted that the doctor give him time to heal before anyone went in search of the real estate agent, but when they heard the amount of money involved they changed their tune.

So the contact was called.

He offered to help but needed a mobilisation of N250,000.

It was his wife who offered to bring the money.

Like her husband she was a saver too.

The money was given to the contact, who then requested for the number of the real estate agent and the account number the money was paid into.

The telecom provider was contacted by the contact and the call log of the number was procured.

It had all the numbers that were called and the numbers that called it.

The most frequently called numbers  were extracted.

Their registration details got from their respective telecom companies.

Each one was called and through subterfuge a conversation was opened with them, with an offer from the telecom company to visit their office for a price won from an end of year surprise lottery done by the telecom company to reward loyal phone customers.

Out of the five people contacted only two showed up.

Two ladies.

The contact and his team were waiting for them at the telecom company headquarters.

They were promptly arrested.

Meanwhile the bank the money was paid into was contacted. It was ascertained that the money was still in the account.

A police order for a hold on the money was forwarded to bank.

The bank complied.

The girls were interrogated.

After a marathon questioning that included threats and hot slaps, one of the girls confessed that she was a girlfriend to the real estate agent and under duress she agreed to take them to his house.

They arrived at his house at Magodo 5.30 a.m in the morning.

They bursted the doors and met him sleeping in bed with another girlfriend.

Both naked.

The other rooms had other boys and girls in them.

Most of them naked.

A network of thieves, fraudsters and the girls who date them.

They were all arrested.

Moved to the station.

And by noon of the same day, the money was transferred back to the account of the Taxify driver.

He gave the contact an extra N500,000 in gratitude for christmas and another N500,000 which he had requested for his contacts at the banks and the telecom companies.

It had taken the contact four days to recover the funds.

And the Taxify driver had been discharged a fifteen days after his admission when his lungs, throat and his right sprained ankle had sufficiently healed.

The Taxify driver looked over at me as I sat quietly listening to his story.

"You never know the value of life until you nearly lose it man. I would have sworn that I could never take my life no matter what happened, but in hours, there I was already doing what I thought I could never do. Pray you never experience something that can break your spirit, because this your mind, you can never trust it. It can lie to you just like that and just like that it can save you. It can confuse you and it can make things so clear to you, you will be amazed. So you have to be careful when you choose to listen to it. You know when it was telling me to kill myself, I was still hearing another voice telling me to call my wife, but the voice that was telling me to kill myself was telling me that my wife will blame me for being foolish. She would laugh at me. Another voice told me to pray. The voice that was urging me to kill myself was saying prayer will never get the money back and the only prayer I need to say is to tell God to accept my soul. I tell you it was like there were different people in my mind men. Just pray that you never get to that point where you are at the mercy of your mind. Because what it can make you do, hmmmm..."

And he fell silent.

We drove on.

After a while I asked him.

"Are you still going to buy another land for the factory for the Solar project?"

"Me?"

He laughed for a while before he continued.

"Solar what? Man, didn't you hear me? I saw death man. It cleared my mind. Made me see everything in 3D. What do I need all that stress for? I have told my uncle to return the loan. I paid back the part I gave him as his cut. Paid the interest that had already accumulated. I told the Germans thank you very much but I am not interested anymore. I paid back the shipping charges and penalties for breaching the contract. I still have like a couple of millions in my account. I am waiting for my wife to get her papers and we are taking off back to germany. We get there. She gets a job, I get a job. We make enough to raise a family, travel on holidays, live life. Man, all these wanting to build empires and acquire money you can't spend cos its too much doesn't mean anything. If you experience the loneliness of death you will understand what I am saying. Vanity upon vanity man, all is vanity. One life to live that is all we have got and you don't have to spend it chasing what doesn't matter. Just be happy, show love, experience the world, earn just enough to make you comfortable, be contented and keep your mind in check."

Then he laughed again.

"Man, I tell you. The devil is right there in you. He is your mind. If you are looking for salvation, then conquer your mind. You think Jesus didn't know what he was saying when he said lead us not into temptation but deliver us from all evil?"

I was looking at him silently.

He continued.

"He was talking about the mind!"

There was a transcendental peace on his face as he kept shaking his head and laughing with such pure happiness, it was evident that to him, he had found out the greatest secret in existence.

I couldn't help but smile with him.

Infected by his happiness.
