Nigerian Minister of Finance Responds to Forgery Allegation

“I Don’t Know My NYSC Exemption Certificate Was Forged. Someone Did It For Me. I did not apply for the exemption myself and not aware that what the ‘agent’ gave me was not from NYSC.
I was born in London and also had all my education there. I graduated at 22 and started working immediately. When I returned to Nigeria in 19XX, I knew about the national labour law requirements, including NYSC participation or exemption, but didn't know how to go about it.
I relied on 3rd parties to assist and it looks like they took inappropriate steps. I am shocked and equally embarrassed to learn about this. I should have checked before now and I accept the blame for their wrongdoing because they acted on my behalf.
I accept full responsibility for this incident and regret that it even happened in the first place. I am prepared to do whatever that is required to redeem these grave errors.
I regret any inconvenience that this may have caused the government which I currently serve and the good people of Nigeria." - Kemi Adeosun

Benefits of Chacoal

#BENEFITS_OF_CHARCOAL!

Charcoal is one of the most disregarded products at home. We only see the need for it when it is time to set fire for Banku.
However, if you really need first aid, charcoal is something you need to have on you all the time. You might not know this but it is one of the most medicinal products you can have at home due to its poison extraction ability.
In case you never gave it much attention, this is the time to do so. Here are *13* benefits of charcoal you never thought about.

1. *#Preventing_Odour*.
Does your shoe smell bad? Just get some charcoal & put it in them. Do you have any bad smell in your room? Drop some charcoal where you suspect the smell could be coming from. Does your fridge or freezer smell? Put a piece of charcoal in it. Do you have strong body odour? Just make a powder out of charcoal & use.
Charcoal is very good at getting rid of bad smell. Ever wondered why your parents always scooped out the ash from the coal pot to pour in the hen coop or toilet before sweeping? That was to get rid of the odour.

2. *#Keeping_Food_Fresh*.
If you want your vegetables to be fresh all the time, just make a solution out of charcoal & leave your vegetables in them. Thank us later.

3. *#Removing_Toxins_From_Food*.
These days, people complain about the use of fertilizers on plants & vegetables, making them unwholesome & poisonous. If you have charcoal, you don’t need to worry about this. All you need to do is leave the vegetables in a charcoal solution overnight & it’ll take care of the toxins. If you suspect any food contains too many chemicals, just drop them in a charcoal solution for some hours & you’re good to go.

4. *#For_Teeth_Whitening*.
If you want to whiten your teeth, pay no attention to all these adverts on whitening chemicals & technology. Just get yourself some charcoal & grab hold of a plantain stalk. Make a powder out of the charcoal, mash the tip of the plantain stalk, dip it into the charcoal powder & brush your teeth with it for a week.

5. *#Restoring_Soup_That_Went_Bad*.
Did your groundnut soup or palm nut soup go bad? No need to worry about pouring it all away. Just put it back on fire & drop a piece of charcoal in it. This will extract all the bad taste & smell & restore the soup to its fresh state.

6. *#Detoxifying*.
Do you have a hangover out of a drink out with friends the previous night? Just have some charcoal with you & chew on it. To make it more effective, make a nice solution out of it & drink. You’re good to go.

7. *#Neutralizing_Alcohol*.
If you mistakenly did some wild mixing & feel it can knock you out, just add some charcoal to the mixture & your problem is solved. Or if you took in too much alcohol, just drink some charcoal solution & you’re good to go.

8. *#Healing_Wounds*.
Do you have a situation where someone’s wound has become so infected to the state doctors are saying they have to cut the affected area? Don’t stress over it, get a large amount of charcoal powder & pour it on the wound. This will extract all the poison from the wound & also help it heal faster. If you have a cut & you want to treat it fast, just get some powdered charcoal & pour on it.

9. *#Water_Filtration*.
Do you feel your water is contaminated? You don’t need all these products on the market. Charcoal can do better, just drop some amount of it in it. Don’t worry about the colour, it is safe, you can even chew on charcoal. It is far safer than eating chicken from KFC.

10. *#Skin_Cleansing*.
Do you have pimples, acne or any skin disease you really want to get rid of or do you want a very smooth face or skin? All you need is charcoal. Make a thick solution out of it & smear it on your body & leave it on for some hours before taking your bath. It will leave your skin smooth & fresh.

11. *#Stain_Removal*.
Do you have some stubborn stain in your kitchen, washroom or on your tiles? You actually need charcoal to get rid of it. I know you’re imagining how this black stainy product can actually remove stains right? Just try it, it works like magic.

12. *#Getting_rid_of_a_Bloated_Stomach*.
If you ate or drank something & feel bloated, charcoal is the best solution to get rid of the bloating.

13. *#Gets_Rid_of_bad_Cholesterol*.
Making a solution out of it & drinking helps eliminate all the bad cholesterol you have stored in you.

14. *#Ulcer_Treatment*.
Charcoal can treat all ulcers. Just make it a habit to always chew some.

Man To Man Talk For Long Life

*This is exclusively for men,but any woman who is not afraid of the bitter truth can read it too.....*

*A Master of ceremony cracked this usual joke at a wedding reception?*

*It goes thus:..  "who should pay bills or take care of the children? Who is to pay school fees of children? Who should toil to provide for the home? The whole audience shouts.... "Daddy!".*

*Who should the child buy a car for after graduation? The women answered loudly... "mother!!!"*

*Who should be invited to America if a child is rich and works abroad? ... "Mother of course", roared the women in the audience.*

*Who should die first among the parents? "Daddy!"... all the women in the hall screamed....*

*Truly and sadly such is the fate of any responsible man in life*

*When a lady is single and has four problems and her fiancee has six problems, immediately they get married, the man's problems become  ten automatically (10) as the man immediately starts to carry the family problems....*

*Men are made to struggle to take care of family problems, children's education, home maintenance, and virtually all provisions of life....women are only there to help you*

*Due to these challenges and unending struggle, men tend to wear out faster and probably die early as a result of stress...*

*...hence, it is important for men to ensure that they don't allow their wives to push them into unsustainable family commitments and expensive lifestyle that he knows he cannot afford or cope with in the long run...*

*....if you do, you run the risk of stress and continuous family unrest.  Ensure you take right decisions at all times... do not kill yourself.*

*If you suddenly slump and die, surprisingly, life will continue...you will be shocked in your grave...mummy will even marry another man earlier than you could imagine*

*Most men are worn out by the time their children graduate or retiring at same period... all the struggle would have already taken serious tolls on his health and life.... and dies prematurely, leaving Mama alone to enjoy. Trust women, they quickly settle down while you are long gone...*

*Be sensible, never allow your wife to goad you into embarking on long term stress and burden, you can least afford.....*

*Take note:-*

*When children grow into adulthood, women tend to shift more attention to them at your expense. Infact she is seeing a replacement of you in them...*

*Men should take care of their health, live and eat well as you may go prematurely if you have been subjecting your life to excessive stress for too long.*

*It's even more terrible in marriages under storm. In Yoruba land, our mothers in fact call their male children... "My husband". (Oko mi.) So when your son grows to your height and size, with your shoes and clothes matching your son exactly.... your wife gladly starts to feel fulfilled....you know what that means? The people that will take over from you are already ready*

*As you get older in your marriage, be careful, and avoid creating rift in your home. Be at peace with your wife and children, if not you are endangering yourself, as you are hardly needed any longer .*

*Know that women wax stronger spiritually at old age..they pray more at this age while men become weaker spiritually unfortunately at this age.*

*Men should live a good life....... enjoy your life as you shoulder the responsibilities, eat the sweat of your labour when you are still strong....*

*Whether you like it or not, there is every probability that your wife will outlive you they are genetically designed so and particularly you are almost always older than her (barring accident of life) She will be around to live to complete the unfinished  "assignment" and consume the balance of the "dividends of parenthood".*

*So while you are still agile, train your children, love your wife dearly, take care of your home, but take care of yourself too please...pause in the midst of the stress and rest and give yourself a treat as late evening of life are always unfavourable for men for many reasons highlighted above.*

*I pray for all responsible men out there, great fathers and wonderful husbands, that the evening of our lives will be favourable unto  us by God's grace. 🙏🏼 Amen*

*Any woman reading this and angry with me now I warned before hand that it is meant for only men and it is the bitter truth!*

How GEJ Plan To Curtail Herdsmen Was Sabotaged

Gabriel Suswam stilled his look at me and took a deep sigh and said “Doc, I am certain that Buhari will arrest me very soon, not because of any corruption but because he knows I know too much about these killings. He won’t stop the killings”.

This was in 2016 but first a background.

I was just settling down in London in 2016 as a Chevening Scholar at the London School of Economics when I got a desperate call from a friend who is from Benue.

She was weeping and told me stories of ongoing massacres in her village by Herdsmen with no one reporting them while CSOs and influencers went silent.

She said no one wanted to speak up because they all supported the new government of President Muhammmed Buhari. I informed her that I also campaigned and support the government but that was no reason to condone the kind of murders that she just described.

I promised to get back to her and started surfing the net for any information on ongoing killings in the Benue. True to what she told me, information was scanty with only untrustworthy blogs and citizen reporters alluding to anything of the sorts.

The Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom himself was singing the praises of the new government. Knowing who this friend was, I knew she was not one to raise a false alarm especially when she had told me that five of her uncles in the village had already being hacked to death.

She sent me picture evidence via WhatsApp. I made some calls back home but most of the usual vocal voices were not interested. The opinion then was that the out-gone government of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan messed up and it would take time for things to come back to normal, especially as there were signs that the Boko Haram terrorists were being repressed and overwhelmed by the new admin.

However, when I saw more pictures and videos, this time, of pregnant women being disembowelled by the herdsman and some local youths engaging in Cannibalism (roasting and eating a herdsman), I knew I had to act. I flew into Nigeria the next week and started putting in place A CSO Colloquium on the crises.

My approach was to use my networks and connections to get prominent figures from both divides to come speak in a nationally televised event. The Secretary-General of the Miyetti Allah is someone I have known very closely for over 20 years.

I then reached out to some Benue citizens and that was how I contacted Gabriel Suswam, the former Governor of Benue state. After a few hiccups, we finally met late one night in his home.

What he told me was chilling. Due to National Security concerns I will not reveal certain aspects of our discussion, but he was very bitter. He said during the transition between GEJ’s government and the incoming PMB administration, he was summoned to the Villa and Jonathan took him to the then President-Elect.

GEJ told PMB in Suswam’s presence that he wants only one favour from PMB.

He told PMB that he didn’t care if he was probed or if his administration’s efforts at national development were reversed, but PMB should please do something for him.

According to Suswam, GEJ informed PMB that the brewing Herdsmen crises could eclipse the BH insurgency in all ramifications, and that, if not tackled with expediency Nigeria may not recover.

He said he had set up a committee chaired by Suswam to travel round the world looking for solutions and that they now fully have a plan that can resolve the issue.

He begged PMB to invite Suswam for talks and to look at the recommendations of that committee.

Suswam told me that he was made the Chair of the committee for an incident that happened in his state. Sometime in 2014, herdsman had sacked whole villages, killed, raped women and burnt farms and homes of communities in rural areas in Benue.

He said he didn’t believe the reports he was getting until he started seeing refugees pouring into Makurdi.

One day, he mobilized his entourage which included police men, press, soldiers and others and proceeded to see things for himself in those communities.

He said when they got to a few kilometres to the village the soldiers in his convoy, acting on instructions from Headquarters refused to proceed any further but he insisted on continuing.

Ten minutes into the trip all hell was let loose. They were ambushed by Herdsmen and a battle ensued. A barrage of gun shots was unleashed on them from all sides. He said there were over 100 well armed Herdsmen shooting at them.

Those in the convoy retreated but he was already in the middle and so decided to fight for his life. He took an AK from one of the retreating mopol men and with a few others that remained with him faced the Herdsmen fire for fire.

He told me he was a trained marksman having lived in the US. In the process, two of his security aides were shot but they continued fighting until the Herdsmen retreated.

He said he left for Markurdi and returned the next day fully prepared and saw how villages had been taken over by cows. This time, the Herdsmen didn’t shoot him and some of them pulled out their phones and were snapping him.

He decided then and then that, if he did nothing Benue would be overrun. He took actions that saw to a curtailing of the actions of these killers. It was against this backdrop that GEJ made him the chairman of the Committee.

To be continued…

(Conclusion) News filtered in last week that Suswam had been arrested on gun running charges , fulfilling his prediction in 2016 that he would be arrested. But the events that led to his arrest was precipitated 2 weeks ago.Suswam was in Kwande local govt to receive an APC decampee

into the PDP. When he got there he said he was not there to talk politics but to speak up against injustice to the Tiv nation and Benue people as a whole. He called out Akume and Gemade for being silent while Benue people were being massacred. He told the crowd that Ortom the Gov

Was helpless and had since been denied access to the president. He reminded the people of the actions he took to protect them from the herdsmen. Unbeknownst to him, certain persons recorded the speech which he delivered exclusively in Tiv but for the mention of constitution

And took to the DSS. They translated it and pronto charged him to court. Now, I was surprised that Suswam would have that courage to speak up given that he had declined my invitation to him to come speak at the colloquium I was putting together and in fact , was even afraid to

Release essential documents to me which was why the initiative could not hold. Why was he so afraid? We will have to look at his meeting with the the president elect to find the answer to that question.

Following his introduction to the GMB, GEJ left both of them alone to work out a possible meeting time. GMB was noncommittal and didn’t want to have the meeting but Suswam persisted and begged that even if he can’t meet with GMB he could at least allow him the opportunity of

Submitting the report to him. GMB would have none of that. Suswam claimed that after that failure, he remained in Abuja to see if he could use other influential persons to get GMB to meet with him but they were all exercises in futility. In frustration, he returned to Makurdi to

Focus on handing over to Ortom. He was therefore surprised when shortly after he returned he got a call from someone telling him that the General was ready to see him. He gathered all his documents and made an Executive Summary for ease of digestion for GMB and hurried to Abuja.

He said he was very nervous when he got to meeting that evening but GMB was very convivial unlike the impression he got from the previous interaction with him. He sat down and got ready to do his presentation but amazingly , GMB was not interested in hearing either the work of

Committee or their recommendations. He said GMB was more interested in knowing if he Suswam has any insider knowledge about the modus Operandi of the herdsmen . Suswam said GMB was of the firm conviction that the herdsmen were the victims and had been pushed to the wall due to

Rustling. GMB made other statements which Suswam said made him to start shivering in fear and he knew he was going to be a target. He also wanted to know how weapons that the Benue people used to nullify the attacks of the herdsmen during Suswam’s time got to them and not

How herdsmen got theirs . After an over two hours discussion GMB still didn’t want to collect the report of the committee . Suswam said he left there and decided to go on exile but after two months outside he summoned courage and returned to face the consequences head-on

He said he started feeling the heat when all his accounts were frozen and properties impounded by the EFCC. I quickly reminded him that the records of former govs were not the best when it came to corruption and that the govt had a duty to investigate anyone that they thought

Had abused the trust reposed on him especially where there were allegations against him. He agreed but said he was the only past Gov under GEJ that had met such treatment and whose accounts were frozen . Take note that this was in 2016. Of course some more govs have since

Come under investigation. I reminded him that President wanted a solution to the mayhem . That was when he told me that with a mindset that the herdsmen were the victims there will not be a strong political will to act decisively and that the killings will only get worse

I asked him to come and have his say in front of cameras and the Miyetti Allah representatives that I intended to bring since it was important to hear from both sides. He said if he did that he would not live to tell the story. Exactly two months later, Suswam was arrested.

Now, I asked Suswam a very important question:how come you were able to keep the herders at bay but Ortom could not?He said Ortom came on board riding on the goodwill of the president and of course read the body language of the president very well. In a bid to please his masters

Ortom decided to emasculate Benue youths . He announced an ill conceived Amnesty and asked all the youths to come surrender their guns and other defense instruments that they had. He promised them huge sums of cash and other incentives such as jobs and empowerment. Basking in the

Euphoria of support from Abuja , he succeeded in convincing these youths and they laid down their weapons. That was a huge mistake . Ortom didn’t come true for them but instead started owing salaries . Having seen that the line of defense had been weakened the herdsmen returned

With a vengeance . Ortom also set up a task force made up of some of these youths to go placing levies of the herdsmen . These levies were increased by over 1000% of the normal levy that was in place and since the herders could not afford them, their cattle were killed in huge

Numbers. Since these communities no longer enjoyed the protection from the youths, they became easy targets for the rampaging herdsmen who sacked them and took over the communities till date. How do these herders get these weapons? TY Danjuma had answers that & that was Suswam’s

Position too. Finally, I have not seen Suswam again since then and neither do I hold brief for him. I have edited many of the things he told me and only reproduced what I thought was necessary to give insight to the lack of political leadership in dealing with this crises .

The Nigerian army, DSS , Police etc all have the capacity to stop this madness , what is lacking is the political will, a will that the president must muster if he truly wants this boodshed to end. Concluded
