Buhari Moves To Fix Clinic After Daughter Embarrassed Govt.

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned Dr. Mannir Hussain, Medical Director of State House Medical Centre over the deplorable condition of the facility. Also summoned was Jalal Arabi, State House Permanent Secretary. The president invited them presumably on the weight of negative reports and observations coming from visitors to the facility. Not long ago, Zahra Buhari, the president’s daughter, had expressed dissatisfaction at the state of the medical centre.

Intended for emergency and routine medical services for the president and other workers in the State House, the facility was expected to maintain superior environmental conditions and state of the art equipment. But visitors, including Zahra, have reportedly expressed displeasure over the facility’s gross inadequacies. This situation may have prompted the president to invite the officials to his office on Wednesday. Curiously, about N3.8 billion was budgeted for the State House Medical Centre for 2017. Sources noted that previous administrations had budgeted higher amounts but this had not rubbed off on the medical facility.

Zahra had complained that basic medications like paracetamol including hand gloves and syringes were not available in the hospital. She had wondered where the funds budgeted for its annual running had gone. Nevertheless, President Buhari has not taken action on the matter, and observers predict that the summons of the officials may precede possible redeployment of key figures in the hospital’s management. Zahra recently told a blogger: “Why isn’t there simple paracetamol, gloves, syringes inside the Aso Rock Medical Centre. “Why do the patients and staff have to buy what they need in the State House Clinic?” She asked. *Read more at: http://independent.ng/buhari-summons-perm-sec-cmd-state-aso-rock-clinic/
