NIGERIAN POLICE HIGHLY RATED BY NIGERIA'S VICE PRESIDENT

After watching a well coordinated marching parade and other demonstrations by the Nigerian police force, Nigeria's vice president Prof. Osibanjo has gone ahead to rate Nigerian police as one of the best in the whole world. What we don't know is whether he is in future tense, present tense or past tense. Nigeria is one of the few places where you do not have to commit any crime to attract police attention, intimidation and extortion. It is true that American police is misbehaving recently but Nigerian police is still leading. In deed when you are traveling in Nigeria, you must budget money for police bribery, gasoline and feeding. I want to hear that the situation has changed. Sometimes when you want to get the real performance  evaluation of your staff or workers it pays to ask them what they think of themselves so you can assess their insight. Whenever you ask policemen how the work is going, they always paint a picture of people in straight jacket who must extort money from people for basic needs. They passively harass innocent people and actively run away from criminals. Another annoying aspect is their ability to gather evidence and show compassion. Example , news maybe everywhere that Fulani herds men killed 46 people, police will come out and tell you "Don't worry, only 6 people were killed"
If police in Nigeria was highly rated why is there so much insecurity and no arrests or convictions.
