An outstanding senator known for his common sense signature has challenged the Nigerian federal government to desist from playing the ostrich over the issues of Biafran civil war in particular and the history of the country Nigeria in general.
During a session with law makers, Senator Ben Bruce reiterated that immediately after the civil war, the Nigerian federal government failed to address the issues that led to the war, rather they erased the Bight of Biafra from Nigerian map and subsequently banned the teaching of related history in primary and secondary schools all over the country where as other countries that faught wars continue to teach lessons from the war and continue to make adjustments to avoid future wars.
The senator added that when he confronted one time vice president of Nigeria over the matter, he was told that the government did not want the issue of Biafra remembered or discussed anywhere in order to make sure that nobody brings up the issue of Biafra again.
That explains the reason why policemen and many other Nigerians regard anybody discussing Biafra as an enemy of State. In fact police officers have become notorious for un lawful persecution and intimidation of innocent Nigerians who venture to dress in Biafra colour of Green yellow Black with rising sun imprint.
In deed Nigeria has played the Ostrich for too long
