The minister of woman affairs Ms Aishatu Alhassan has joined forces with some Chibok girls parents to issue a press release that some of the Chibok girls taken to America after they escaped from captivity are not in secondary schools, instead the Non Governmental Organisations are using them to get funding for speeches and sharing of their experiences. They want the federal government to take over the control of these girls and put them in school immediately. The question they must ask is what is the antecedent of the federal government that they are asking to take over these children. Many students studying abroad on federal scholarships are packing their loads to come back to Nigeria right now. Some are owed several months of allowances and tuition are being owed. Therefore These NGOs are still in a better position to handle the needs of these children. Some of the children cannot even speak English therefore it may take a while before they can fully join American education system. It may pay Aishatu to investigate what is actually going on with the kids. In a related story, Mrs Ezekwesili and Wole Soyinka have both cautioned Nigerian police and President Buhari to stop playing the Ostrich by criminalizing Bring Back Our Girls pressure groups and labeling them security threat. If you are doing something, speak to them and tell them what you are doing.
