20 YEARS AWAITING TRIAL IN NIGERIAN PRISONS

In Nigeria, prisons and jails are all but the same thing since innocent people awaiting trial are mixed up with hardened criminals and those on death penalty. It has been revealed on television that many await trial for up to 20 years for crimes of 6 months penalty. If justice delayed is justice denied, where is justice for these suspects. It was said that the man that attempted jail break in Ebonyi prison is awaiting trial since 1997 but there is enough time and resourcesto try a man that namd his dog Buhari .Many were granted bail but are not allowed to be bailed. The amount of hypocrisy and sycophancy going on in Nigeria is repugnant. If you give Nigeria the critical attention and analysis it deserves you may soon join your ancestors who are supposedly observing from the other side. Our people are very slow. One senator was seen the other day showing off exotic cars and shoes like a school boy. They are supposed to speak for the poor but they are not. Anyway the prison boss was saying that if the prison is controlled locally, the situation would have been different. How can someone fight corruption without changing the corrupt laws and arrangement.
