CHICKEN FORCED TO SKIP MEALS IN NIGERIA

Nigeria poultry farmers have suddenly woken up to the reality that they can no longer afford to feed their bird three times a day due to sudden doubling of the price of chicken feeds. Many are still dazed while others are busy looking for formula to effectively calculate the expected losses. With the recent report that 4 million Nigerians run the risk of starvation, nobody is empathizing with poultry farmers. Chicken is destined to be eaten, Therefore if human beings are hungry and chicken are hungry, one should prepare to eat the other. Some Nigerian undergraduates have dismissed the story with a wave of hand because many students after paying school fees in Universities are able to feed only twice a day or even once daily in many cases. Many Nigerians are willing to go to farm but the activities of nomadic cattle herders have discouraged many.
