Economic blockade is the closest thing to jail that can happen to any nation and that is what The state of Cuba has been exposed to since the 1950s. This has resulted in untold hardship and poverty for the small Caribbean Island.
In summary, during the era of Soviet Union, Cuba had a revolution and embraced communism with the rise of Fidel Castro. The Western civilisation wanted Cuba to embrace democracy or become ostracized and Cuba chose to be ostracised while Fidel family remains in power till today
Towards the end of Obama administration. Obama argued that America is forcing Cuba to embrace democracy whereas Saudi Arabia that practice monarchy is one of the greatest ally of United States and no one has told them to embrace democracy. Likewise, China that is ruled by communist party remains a major trade partner with America.Therefore Obama rolled back travel restrictions on Cuba and started a process towards easing the rest of the sanctions.
Anyway President Donald Trump has faulted the easing of embargo on Cuba citing a finding that the Cuba people are not benefitting anything from the gesture, rather the regime is being enriched or emboldened by the travel freedom and it is the desire of United States to have democracy all over the America continent.
In deed a lot of Cuban Americans applauded the move and praised President Trump for putting pressure on Castro family since Castro himself is late. It must have been a difficult decision for Trump but we blame the advisers who actually told Trump that Cuba people are not benefitting from the deal. Freedom to travel, do business and meet family is not something you can withhold from any human being and continue to present yourself as a friend
